Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

When my parents were on the slide I did a lot of trips north. At one point I counted five round trips in an 12 month period. In both their cases, I had been home from a visit for only ten days, before I had to return for the death. I learned to rent cars and I learned about hotels. I'll take Hilton each and every time, given the option. Otherwise I like the Hampton group. With luck, I will never again have to stay with Fairfield.

Which reminds me of a tweet I saw the other day of a bunch of swimmers trying to keep up with an endless pool set on 24km/h. Unfortunately I'm not sure how to find it again

As far as the trainer goes, I mounted a tire on the old front wheel and I will just use that wheel when I put it on the trainer.
Hear me now and believe me later. Do yourself a favor and fix that before going out on the road. It WILL bite you.

Had our daughter and son-in-law over yesterday as well as the SIL's parents and brother for dinner. Everybody seemed fine and healthy. Today, the SIL's father woke up feeling bad and tested positive for the COV.

I guess it's now wait and see.

Yeah, I forgot about that. All I have to do is make it from the hammock to the bathroom, and back again. I don't think I would want to be operating a commercial jet while on cold medicine. Some years ago, I attempted a wheel hub repair while on cold medicine, and now have a scar on my left wrist that looks like a suicide attempt.

I’m in tri mode. Sprint in early June to shake off the rust, Olympic in late August to close out the season. May toss another sprint in there for funsies. Running is my weakest part, so there’s a lot of treadmilling this time of year.

7 inches of snow in one day is nothing up there. 3 feet is not uncommon. You spent time in Meadville which is not even in the heart of the snow belt. You probably had some big snow storms back in the day. I'm sure you remember with fear and trembling. Pittsburgh or anywhere in Pennsylvania will be miserable for you. Tennessee or the western part of the Carolinas will be decent with no hurricane worries.

Maybe you can move to somewhat rural eastern Cali to get away from the crazies. Cost of living is probably much lower but you can be nearer your family once you start wearing diapers.

Well probably that - a kidney-shaped or small rectangular pool for lounging in. Remember we don't really entertain, or have kids, so not much draw to sitting by the pool. We want to bang out laps.

Well, the hits keep on coming. JetBlue said they would deliver our luggage to us within 24-36 hours. Those morons just loaded our bags on a flight to Tampa. The call center dolt said that our bags have been flagged so when they get to Tampa they will be loaded back up and sent to Boston. Why wasn’t there a flag to prevent them getting loaded onto the plane to begin with????
