Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

All week it was supposed to rain and it didn’t rain once.

Tomorrow looks like it’s guaranteed. If it does rain i’ll just do intervals. Waste of a work out my legs are shot, but if I don’t ride i’ll be even more upset.

My weekend forecast calls for 10-12 hours of driving each day. I don't suspect that it'll change, so both days will be a no-go as far as rides.

Sad.

That pic reminds me of when I gave up on cycle computers. Eventually the only number I cared about on there was the time of day.

And I didn't even care about that very often.

Yeah, but I'm sure that some loser with too much time on their hands will flag my rides for no good reason. I mean, other than them taking place in a car.

Yep, we got hammered from early morning until 0100 and it just started thundering a few minutes ago, 1515. We’re trying to get it out of here and over to you.

Flight decks were common on tandems back in the day because the captain has trouble seeing the cassette.

I don’t know if you are being facetious or not, but yes, you programmed your gears into the unit and it kept track and if I recall, calculated rpm’s, too. There were buttons on the side of compatible Shimano shifters. Mine was on a 2003 Santana Sovereign tandem with 9 speed Ultegra.

Like I said, they were very popular with tandem captains.

That’s the term used for the highly abused slave operating the controls on a tandem.

I know. On sailboats we all know who the admiral is and it ain’t the driver. When we had ours, I was just the cabin boy.
