...don't let the h8terz get you down, Larry. Anyone fortunate enough in his work environment, that he is in a hurry to get there every morning, is a lucky man.

Some folks, the ways points go right by them, you's think they were Olympic fencing champs or something.

im convinced that he would brake check me to try and get an advantage if he saw me drafting. Dude is hardcore. I also think his over the top light display isn’t for cars, the way he rides suggests to me that he is not worried about visibility, he is peacocking other cyclists.
you ride like a fool stop your senseless nonsense and stop worrying about trying to race everybody start keeping track of your mph each ride to work and then aim to increase by a mile each 2 weeks or so and you might be surprised if you have any ability at all which I somehow doubt you might just get a little faster after a year or so then maybe you wouldn’t have to draft anyone they might be drafting you.

The only commuter racing I ever did was to beat the time clock so I wouldn’t get fired. Wasn’t racing to put the hurt on anybody or because I loved my job so much I couldn’t wait to get there. My young wife and I had the funny habit of needing to eat. Fear can make you fast!

I don't commute, but once, on the Newport back bay loop, I tucked in behind someone for < 10 s to wait for cycling and jogging traffic in the opposite direction to pass. After that I moved left to pass him, and he veered left to cut me off while *****ing about how I was riding on his wheel.

I thought that quite ironic given that he called Larry a fool.

I know this is oddly on-topic for a thread like this, but there used to be a regular unsanctioned bike messenger races in Chicago in the 1990's that were run on open streets with traffic. It got way out of hand and was eventually shut down.

A bunch of messengers organized a team, and started participating in crits instead. A few years later it was one of the largest race teams in the region, and still exists today.

Never raced anyone while commuting but every once in a while would team up with a fellow commuter and trade pulls.

Early meetings that make the commute at the same time crazed parents are dropping kids off add to the fun. (when I was commuting)
