^ Nice Bridgestone. Theres a mint MB-3 near me in my size but I'm in the middle of moving and I don't feel like impressing my wife with my sense of judgement if I brought home another bike
So I bought a Haro Extreme frame and fork instead. I feel that this adquisition is justified because I had one when I was 20 years old. It was the one bike I truly regret crashing and trashing
Its a late model, a 91 stamped on its BB. The late ones used larger diameter tubing for the rear triangle and seat tube. The seat clamp (missing) is an odd 33mm, the rear spacing is 130mm, the seatpost is a huge 29.4 thinwall chromoly shaft with an alloy head, which will be replaced with a shimmed 27.2mm vintage fast feather seatpost to get some compliance out of what I remember was a jarring ride. I want an all silver getup but I might go crabon for the bars for the same reason, this bike is vertically stiff. Black bars don't look so bad anyways
I look forward to one day building this frame up and riding it but it might be a while. My old Haro, I missed you so much....

May not be vintage, but to the new generation it probably is. I just picked up a '99 Stumpjumper FSR Pro for $75. Got it home, pumped up the tires, dug out my old shock pump and aired the Fox Vanilla up, adjusted the brakes, put on a Concor saddle I have and took it around the block. I'm going to totally disassemble it and restore it, but everything works. The shock and fork don't seem to need a rebuild. Haven't weighed it but it's pretty light, full XTR/XT. Couldn't pass up that deal.
*edit* it weighs 26lbs with those platform pedals on it.

91 Diamondback Ascent.
Exage 400LX components work great 25 years later.
Just sold it today as it was a bit too small. Shame as its really solid.

Yeah, I reckon rim-braked action would be considered vintage to a lot of MTBers these days!

It seems the "Rocky" was a Canada only model. Makes sense as a "crested butte" would be something you park on a chair to an average Canadian.
Frame: Raleigh Mountain Tour Rocky - Raleigh 502MT Cro-Moly tubing - Tig welded.
Forks: Original 3-piece, lugged steel.
Headset: No name steel.
Stem/bars: One piece chromed steel.
Grips: Foam, new but as per original spec.
Front Brakes: Dia Compe 981? (unmarked)
Rear Brakes: Dia Compe 960
Brake Levers: Lee Chi
Shifters: Suntour Power Shifter
Front Derailleur: Suntour 7
Rear Derailleur: Suntour ?
Crankset: Sakae CX
Chainrings: SR 52, 42
Pedals: SR 452
Front Wheel: Sumo 26x1.75 rim, Raleigh "sealed bearing" hub.
Rear wheel: Maillard Hub, Weinmann rim

Couple of '85 ish Diamondback Fleetstreaks I picked up together
I don't know if I've posted a pic of these before -- they kinda' look like a his n hers campground cruiser special
I gussied the blue one up to be a BMX cruiser inspired rig -- still haven't put any miles on it --- seems like it would be fun to cruise some low speed bike paths on -- just put on some beach combers and some flip flops and head out and whistle at the girls

My 15 minutes of (sorta) fame...
Earlier this year I posted in this thread about the vintage categories at Keyesville Classic MTB Race which my friend Paul and I entered on our old Team Rock Lobster mountain bikes. (bike number 2 and number 9)
Apparently the guy there taking all the pictures was from Bicycle Times magazine and we ended up on the contents page for the current issue.
There are more pictures of bikes and riders, also a short story on the event, towards the end of the magazine.
Now don't all come begging for my autograph at once...

Got the old Santa Fe up and running again, without a single trip to the bike shop, in one day. Dig the fat stem and the huge head tube. It was a bare frame and stem this morning.,,,,BD

Miyata Elevation 5000
Acquired this from an accomplished racer who used this as a back-up so it didn't see much action. All original with an extra XTR wheelset. Now it has city tires. Pretty rare I believe - I have not seen many all clearcoat. To me the frame is like an art sculpture of raw polished aluminum. Yeah I love steel bikes but this got my attention and seems to illustrate the potential of aluminum in design.

I bought a 1991 Trek 950 - white with black splatter the other day. It had a sticker on it from a large well known bike co-op so I knew it had been overhauled when the seller bought it, but wasn't sure how long ago that was. I went ahead and repacked the hubs, bottom bracket (looked almost pristine), and the headset (was getting grey grease). Changed the seat post/saddle, cleaned/waxed and did some touchup painting. I installed a new chain and replaced the brake cables because I felt they were a tad too short (maybe it's because I raised the stem??). Rides well and it's pretty light. It's a 16.5, which has a good top tube length for my dimensions.

Just picked up this cannondale this past weekend that I was gonna bring back to life. Does anyone know of any 1" threaded suspension forks I would be able to pick up to make it alittle more versitile on some trails?

How much did you pay for that? Highly collectible as Cannondales go. And please please don't suspend it. It won't act right anyway.,,,,BD
