average weight of a male/female cyclist?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I predict only the lightest of women are participating in this. That's just how they roll.

The only one who I know with the guts to post her stats is Jen and she is on hiatus.

Note it's only the guys who are posting their numbers?!? Even though the OP asked for women!

Maybe you can give him the keys to the "secret" women's forum?? Purely for research purposes, of course!

trying to lose more weight currently. Sitting in front of the computer and eating ice cream is not helping.

Male, 5"8' 135-140 pounds. Very very little body-fat %.

Most cyclists I see are much larger, even the fit ones with low body-fat are still usually taller and bigger people.

i didn't read the whole thread. yet. so don't know what post this is in response to, but i can guess what was in it. anyway. good one. just the right touch of sarcasm. not enough to be offensive, but gets the point across.

edit: ok, now i've read everything... funny how almost everybody who responded with their vitae statisticus is trim. from my observation of other cyclists on the road this is not the general case.

I know some pretty thin women who cycle very well too.
I rode with one of the top women pro climbers in the country about 5 years ago. Nothing but bones. I did not enjoy riding behind her. Not that I had a choice...

I bet that there is a bigger spread of weight to height ratio in the female professional peloton among riders of the same style (climbers, sprinters, roleurs, etc) than for male professionals. I'm thinking the female pro peloton is not as deep with talent as the male peloton, maybe due to the lower interest in competitive cycling by women in general, the lack of financial reward or invective for elite female cycling, etc...

I'd venture to guess much less than the average male or female TV watcher/non cyclist.

Are you sure you're making your 'observations' in SoCal? Almost everybody I'd call a "cyclist" is < 15% body fat, with many being <10%. Even if you're just looking at everybody on a bike your numbers seem way high for this part of the country.
