I re-photo'd Crown of forks on the bike from post #2 (Mystery Meat 2).
I agree that they don't match the frame but now I am not sure the 2nd fork matches either.

But I do think that it is a Peugeot.
That's a great choice of a rear derailer replacement for this bike imo.
The former owner seems like he was much like many of us.

WGB, those that want to get into hobby frame building are always looking for a used oxyacetylene outfit. However the kind of torch handle most want are smaller ones with the control knobs on the top side of the handle towards the tip. Bigger torch handles have the control knobs down by where the hoses attach to the handle are more for car guys. Regulators can be fairly expensive (they are attached to the tanks). The best ones are 2 stage and have a bulge on the backside where the 2nd diaphragm is located. The less desirable but still serviceable single stage units can lay flat on their back on a table. Those that hang out on the frame builders forum might be interested in his oxyacetylene setup if the price is good. You might ask the seller his price.

Sorry, torches all gone. There were several of the old Blow lamp style in the basement with various kinds of solder and a more modern set with hoses (less tanks) but now all gone. I didn't look hard as I was trying to process what I knew

I'd like one last chance to id this frame.
As has been said it might be the wrong seat tube size for a PX-10. I think it's a very nice frame but might have to ask on appraisals for value. It doesn't fit so I will pass on but unsure how to describe it and might list on here as "unknown maker - possibly/probably French"
I tore it down to the frame last night at the Co-op as it's a lot easier than trying to do that in an uninsulated garage.
Rear
Hole and bolt underside of BB. Wondered if it was an oil port and if so, when did they stop making these?
Oil port??:?
Bad news is that the Cinelli bars I showed were not the bars for this bike. Good news is that the stem for those bars is a Fiamme Montreal so I think that's not too bad.....

Check the seatpost diameter. If it's 26.4 mm then it's a PX 10 with butted 531 tubing. If less than that, it may be a PR 10 with plain gauge 531. The eared Simplex dropouts indicate a late 60s or very early 70s build period. Get Jody Lee to check with his seatpost gauge, if need be. If the seatpost diameter is 25.8 mm or thereabouts it would be a PA 10 but the Nervex fork crown typically means a 531 fork as found on a PX 10.

Thanks for the idea about the seatpost guage!! Last night I was at the Buffalo co-op and I was even in the drawer where their guage was kept when I reached for a crank puller! It's either 26mm - that is the post that was there when I got it but maybe it was reamed out so will have to take a good look.

The tab on the non-drive side of the rear Symplex dropout would I think put it in the 70s.
