It looks like there may be a numbskull in here somewhere. I do not know enough to tell who it is though. Maybe high mileage riders use several bottles of chain lube a month, but a new cassette and bar tape every two months? How much mileage would that take? Or am I the numbskull for having the original freewheels on bikes from the early 90s, mid 80s and 1979, although the monthly mileage is much too low?

To the moron who posted this, if you're riding the same tires after "several years" you also likely scoff at the road cyclist who you see going through several bottles of chain lube every month, or changing things like bar tape and cassettes every couple of months. The reason you don't get this is because you don't ride your bike very much. Now go play with your rear view mirror, ******bag.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's see if I understand. Wasn't ridden much, never raced, never crashed, and then goes and buys new tires and new chain???
My bike is several years old and was ridden a lot, and the tires are still good.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2005 Cannondale R5000
Cadd 8 al frame, full dura ace group with the exception of FSA carbon crank, and ksyrium wheels. I am sell the bike becuase I just got a new one. I have kept this bike very clean and it has not been ridden that much. I never raced it or crashed on it.
I just had it tuned up with new chain and tires ($150 in parts)

Not really a numbskull . . . . . but a couple of points for humor, and I though it fit here:

What's the NR (or very close NR-lookalike) crankset doing on that Peugeot turd (and a low-end one at that)?

Unfortunately, some people have NO sense of humor. Or a constant burr up their britches

As I've been finding out: Listed three bikes on the Richmond list, and the phantom flagger jumped on me immediately - my stuff's been knocked off three times in the last five days, already. Fortunately, two of the bikes sold quickly, despite getting the ads knocked off.

I don't know, I thought I used a lot of lube (five running bikes and I tend to lube and wipe often as a means of keeping the chains clean) and still I might go through a couple of bottles a year.

Do you think they'd take $1648.55?

Not bike related, but I couldn't stop laughing when I saw this - just spotted this gag ad posted in response to a POS eMachines and unmarked computer being sold on the MIA Craigslist:

Original ads:

Sad, I thought it was petty. Dude needs to get a life.

Here's what I wrote. Let the cursing and belittling attempts fly, lol.,,,,BD

Peugeot started using Carbolite in the early eighties, right about the time mixte's were most popular. Carbolite was also the lowest grade steel they made bikes from. I have three carbolite bikes, and although the ride quality is second to none, they're not very valuable collector wise. Therefore $500 is an exorbitant amount for this particular bicycle. No insults or hard feelings meant.

Take care....

I saw a couple of bikes on Craigslist that seemed quite expensive, and I noticed a link to a website where you can see all of this person's (people's?) bikes that are for sale. In his/her/their defense, most of the bikes do appear to be in fantastic condition. (At least the Terry has Shimano 105!)

How about a 'collectible' John Deere? I'm sure it's there under all the rust. And yes, this is the south:

At least they're only asking $40 for it. Once I saw a John Deere bike on Craigslist here and they wanted over $100. It was from the '70s and in only slightly better condition.

no links, but I've run into it a lot on ebay and craigs list, when someone lists an item and states how good a shape it's in, then posts a few pics that are maybe 1" square? like shouldn't you link the thumbs to an actual pic?

You don't know if it's pure inexperience, or if they're so bad they just don't want a good view shown.
