I was up there in late August many years ago to visit my brother. We were there for about three days, it rained the whole time. I’m glad I wasn’t on a bike, it was not a “light” rain. When I was young and used a bike as transportation I used to use foul weather gear from our sail boat and it worked pretty good. The cuffs had Velcro so you could snug up the ankles and wrists to keep most of the water out. My feet and hands would get wet but I was young and didn’t care.

Hey guys, sounds like a terrific trip!
Should you encounter irritating levels of smoke, I wanted to share what helped me immensely in getting through bog fires in Florida around 2010/11.
Mix an equal amount of cinnamon and honey and consume it, allowing some
to remain in mouth for some sublingual absorption. I use from one to two teaspoons of each.
This should help invigorate the lungs, reducing the irritation (and wheezing). Hopefully, you wont need it, but it is something I’d pack along if the risk were there.

I completely know what you mean. 🙄😉 Though I've only seen the tail-end (so to speak) of the Portland event once, I've seen the Seattle one a couple/few times. I've seen a few beauties, but most seem like they're scraping the bottom of the dating barrel, for some reason or another. 🤪😁😉

At this point I'm hoping the forecast is accurate. I've had the air purifier on nonstop. Those of you who think you're tough enough to handle some smoke need to get a reality check. I used to think that way until I refused to stop commuting due to smoke, and my lungs paid the price.

I'm claiming that Neal's weather magic is actually working in our favor. He's bringing in the rain while we all travel to Seattle to clear out the air for riding.

I sincerely hope for your sake that the AQI gets significantly better by the time you get to riding. Well, for all of us up here as well, of course. We got up to a 300 AQI rating, which is horrific (and we have been around 200 for a bit already). Visibility was/is (it's night time now) a little over a 1/4 mile, and I could see the haze between me and the building across the street. This is Seattle proper, not the east side (of Lake Washington) where they've been at 350-400. I'd be happy if all those rainy days had a "1" instead of a "0" in front of the decimal point to just clear the yuck out of the air and off of everything. I am readying my older Paramount for rain and winter duties and hope to be ready by the end of the weekend.
