It's a wedge-type seat collar that butts up against the seatmast via the seattube. As seen on the pricier trims of tarmac as well.
LBS friend, who's actually the owner of pictured bike I had posted and pretty much all the mechs he works with at their specialized LBS didn't have much faith in this design for specialized's non-aero bikes.
It's a very common occurrence where the seatpost slowly but gradually "slips" downward even when torqued to spec. Even though specialized doesnt mention or instruct it outright (yet), carbon assembly paste is needed in some cases of this happening. Not to mention, as expected there's also a good amount of riders over-torquing and stripping the assembly in attempts to counteract that.
The current generation venge's clamp, while similar in principle, provides a lot more contact with the seatmast in comparison.

I really like the lines of that thing - the saddle, stem and bar angle make it look like it is straining forward.
Forte cages? How do you like them? I'm slightly annoyed at how the bottle when inserted hits the bottom mount bolt. Not sure if I am annoyed enough to replace them though.

nice! There are a couple 650b wheels at the co-op and I was curious to see how well they fit up on my Univega with long reach brakes. Seeing how well all the parts match up really tempted me to go for it. Your bike just adds to that. looks like fun

^ I had a brown Charge Spoon on it for a while, when it still had a triple, though it felt too 'precious' or something, too 'tweedy'... The black is a little more understated. That being said, I have been considering getting a Cambium for it...

Looks good, and I think a cambium would look even better with that lighter shade of brown. Single chainring is a big improvement IMO too.
