I was thinking the same thing. And I love the blue accents on the bike. Makes me wish my Marin was a lighter silver, then it would look sweet with blue fenders!! What's one of those Jamis Commuter 2.0s go for these days?

Here is my commuter.
I just need to find the perfect lights for me. I have cateye front and back but they are only temp until I find what I am looking for. I may change the handlebars someday but I don't know what I want yet. I am happy for now. I just got the inkling to go old school with downtube shifters.

Sweet, don't see a lot of pacers hereabouts. What is that frame size, out of curiosity?

How much of that saddle did you shave off? Amazing to see basically the entire rail exposed...

Here's my "commuter"
I'm lovin' my new seat !! When it was shipped to me I thought the box was empty - it's that light. Not so much for the rest of the bike, it's the "frankenbike" in progress. Next to go is that frame. It'll get there...

Here's my bike. My commute to my office is ~12-15mi RT, and one day a week I work at a farm that is ~30-35mi RT (and much more of a load...).
Always looking for suggestions on upgrades, etc!!!

Drops small screws
I geared my bike down to ~18 gear-inches and that will get me up the steepest hill I face but with a total load of probably not much more than 300#. Sometimes I can feel the headwind (that route is in a canyon between what passes for tall buildings around here) holding me flat. I generally have taken to finding a different route and avoiding that particular slope, traffic be damned. I still climb the hill, but it's over a more circuitous shallower route.
Today I only had to tote a shark though.

Unfortunately, there is no way around this hill. I'm up for modifying the bike, but I'm a total newbie at changing cassettes, which is how I assume you got down to 18 gear-inches. Or did you change the chain rings, too?

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
My 10 year old daughter's new ride... I converted a 24 inch road bike into a flat bar commuter for her since the rides are getting longer and longer and she keeps getting taller.

Great idea on the front fender. I've been meaning to fab up a little bracket, but I hadn't gotten to it. I like your idea though, I may have to stop by a hardware store and the LBS and pick up the few parts.
Other than that, I think I'm going to pop off the bike pump mount.
Also, what do you think of the wheels? My front one came out of true within the first couple of days of city riding, I'm wondering if it is just sloppy setup from the bike shop or what?

They're the Freddy Fenders 700c x 45mm. They fit pretty well, although the clearance in the back in very tight.

I haven't had any problems with the wheels, but I've only put about 125 miles on mine so far. Maybe the spoke tension was already off when you got it and that put the wheel out of true in short order? I don't know.

Sticking w/ 11/34 cassette and downsized granny ring from 26 to 24. I don't know if your folder would have more finicky derailers than my bike's more omnivorous setup.

That's slick. Where did you get the fenders? My bike lacks the clearance for a front fender due to toe overlap. Those short one would probably work nicely though...

my commuter, stock 62 cm surly LHT, with brooks b17, regular toe clip pedals and fork extender on uncut steerer with ultra short stem.
28 miles roundtrip, through the hills and dales visible in the background. no traffic, no stop lights, just the occasional deer.
