The Fuji Professional Super Record ..Perhaps the rarest of Fuji models, I know of two of them and Beech owns one. The other has never been built up and is sitting in a box waiting ... just waiting.

Seriously, I love challenges so don't get rid of your warm clothing for that cold day.

You need some networking, unless you live in New England, where Pros practically grow on trees(relative to anywhere else). Of all of the 15 or so Pros/DS that I have seen, all of them came out of that area except one DS that was bought in FL..

Hey, give me a little bit...I've just started to get over the switch to downtube shifters...pretty soon I might not mind non-aero brake levers!
Hey, I try....and it starts here right? Minnesota is a long way from NE although I'm a NY-born boy....does that gain me any standing?

At my first major league baseball game in memory (Go Cards!), I saw a sign which read, "Muck the Fets" and asked my parents for explanation (they wouldn't provide). That said, any advice for someone who doesn't need any more Fujis but still searches incessantly. Ummm, I've got this friend who, despite having a couple fine Fujis, still searches a four state radius for them on a regular basis?

Other networking is letting family, friends and co-workers what I'm looking for. New England was a hub for the Fuji back in the '70's, seems like at one time almost everyone had one in their basement.
Ozark, start searching the Massachusetts area on Craigslist, I'm more than willing to help facilitate a deal if you find something. Let me know what size you ride as well. If it's anything but a 60cm we'll be fine.

I'm also curious how Valite compares to other tubing, but the question doesn't seem to have been answered. I found "Ishiwata" stamped on the steerer tube of my Valite Fuji, so it was clearly made by them. I also see a lot of references to it being lower end, but some of their higher-end offerings came with Valite forks, so it couldn't be that bad. Anyway, I would appreciate any info you have to share about this mystery tubing!

i had an '84 club that i built up to like-new. i enjoyed riding it for a month or so, but when its newness wore off, i realized it was way too stiff for me. i don't know how its overall weight compared to my 531 bikes, but i can tell you it 'felt' a lot heavier than my others. at times, it felt so heavy and stiff that it just wasn't fun to ride. it didn't even feel as sleek as my vitus touring bike, which is a couple inches longer. i found myself in lower gears when climbing on the valite as compared to the others.
i sold it for $520 this past summer in seattle. it looked really nice, but i had to do a lot of paint filling along the stays.

I started working on a first year Sagres, which had a Valite 414 or 441 decal on the frame. The OEM fork had Tange embossed on it. Maybe Fuji just bought whatever tubing was available and slapped their name on it.

I noticed mine is very stiff as well. Curious if it's the aluminum component. I actually quite like the power transfer if affords, which I feel is somewhat lacking in traditional chromoly tubing.
Very interesting! Do you know what year the Sagres is?
