I think I started to comprehend what I was doing about 1/3 of the way down the first side I did. It's not really that difficult, though I'm sure practice helps and the next time will be neater.
I guess I'll post a mini how-to for the decaleur in a separate thread. Probably should have taken more pictures of the process. My design didn't require any special tools to fabricate, which may make it useful to others.

Yes, this headset is a real show stopper. Headsets seems to be an aesthetic afterthought to many around here; however, I consider them to be a real piece of jewelery for a bike, especially with a beautiful fork crown like that.
These are also really cool.

This headset as originally installed in 1980 on the tandem has been excellent.

How about the Magic Motorcycle (Coda) crankset/bottom bracket?....It was a precursor of many things to come....hollow crank arms, splined axle attachment, external/oversized bearings. The primary difference being that the setup seems to be far quieter in operation than many of the modern incarnations. I thought they were ugly, but they make up for quite a bit by being brilliantly designed, light and stiff. They were not cheap.

Some will disagree, but I think the Maillard Helicomatic system is pretty "cool," and obviously ahead of its time. Mine is Spidel branded.

Man, no matter how tight you pull your photos, there's still a wealth of super sweet parts showing!

Cool bike components? I guess that rules out frames. Okay.
Weinmann Carrera brakes (in need of some cleaning up) with Mathauser pads:
Stronglight 104BIS chainring, black:
Uniquest of all (if there is such a word and I'm sure there isn't), Simplex SJA222, the original type of FD for this frame and probably the onliest (if there is such a word) frame it will work on:

I suspect it didn't catch on because that's the onliest frame it works on. As the song said, one is the onliest number. I was lucky to find the frame and FD at the same time, oceans apart.
Good grief!

I think it's called a "snail" mount for shift levers.
Used mainly by builders for custom aero frames in the mid to late 80's.
I have it on my custom Medici "Aerodynamic" frame.
