Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Surprise on Sunday morning when we were going to go home and go on a bike ride when another misfire started on the Escape. Same code as last time P0201 injector circuit open but cylinder 1 this time.

This time the connector was fine and the injector harness had proper continuity and no shorts so I started checking resistance on all injectors. All checked out with similar values but cylinder 1 was open, so I thought I would just pop in the old cylinder 2 injector I had saved but it checked open as well. So my last misfire wasn't necessarily the connector backing out but a failing injector.

So today I ordered 4 more which should get here Wednesday, and if I have time on Thursday I'll replace all the other ones before we drive to Missouri on Friday/Saturday. And I'll probably bring those 4 good ones with me on the trip plus all the required tools just in case they give me more trouble. I'm a bit concerned that there's something frying the injectors since I had two fail in about 2 weeks but that's way beyond my ability to diagnose. Also bought a new serpentine belt that I'll bring along on the trip just in case.

Need to do an oil change tonight or tomorrow.

This car is getting expensive.
Welcome to my (past) world.

Forgot to mention: besides the new bike, I also gained another bike box! Two ought to be enough. They are not as easy to come by as they once were.

After Saturday's wild weather, Sunday was gorgeous! But breezy. I ended up cutting about 2 miles off my usual Sunday ride because one segment would have been uphill into a headwind, and that seemed like no fun, plus I'd done 4 days of riding the week before.

It is really beautiful out there. Spring is really rolling right along!

Here's a shot from my usual spot, the one I use to track the seasons - the halfway point on the ride, next to the Tesla facility, overlooking Page Mill Rd.

A little deciduous oak tree, just leafing out, against an emotional sky, which fortunately didn't deliver on its threat.

The Little Orange Bastards are blooming.

One of my favorite back roads, Manzanita Way in Woodside.

Mechanical disc=cable actuated. Hydraulic disc=master cylinder pumps fluid to the caliper. Then there's the weird kind with cables actuating remote master cylinders.
No electronic brakes on bikes, afaik.

There are cable, hydraulic, and wireless electronic seat posts.

I did an April Fool's Joke/Parody thread. I hope everyone has a good sense of humor.

If not, it's been nice knowing you all.

Too beefy. I think you want something more like the El Greco version.

Yes. Obviously loosen the stem clamp first.

You SAY obviously, but if you've never has a threadless headset before, it may not be obvious.

Wouldn't be obvious to me, I would want step-by-step, written instructions. In fact, I would take it to my bike shop, I'm a woodworking guy, not a wrench guy.

Electrical problem solved.

The bedroom circuit was on a breaker that did not trip even though the power was interrupted. The electrician was surprised by that, but said that the breaker that I turned off to kill power to the outlet may share a neutral wire. Anywho, he got it all in order and did a better finished job than I may have done (his looks professional), and we are now ready for the grill.

Price tag with $316 which I was happy to pay.

Agree on the price tag. Well worth it.

Best part is that he told my wife that I did not f*** anything up. She was convinced that it was my fault.

Some disc brake pads tend to rock a bit when rocking the bike so I watch the headset while rocking the bike to see if the headset is moving.

I'm with you on this one.

I've taken to saying either cable actuated or hydraulic. The effective braking action is the same, the method of actuation is different.
