I also just noticed that you @kingston ran the rear brake down the seat stay, any problems doing that? Did you think about running the gear cable along the top tube and then down the seat stay also? or was the wiring running with it more of a priority?

I was going for the cleanest lines I could get.
The frame has braze ons for a rear brake on the top tube so I used those, then the cleanest line to the hub was the left seat stay, so I attached the brake arm to the seat stay. It works fine like that. You just have to loosen the locknut and rotate the arm. I did the same thing to rotate the electrical connector down on the front hub to make it easy to unplug when I remove the wheel.
I considered running the shift cable on the top tube, but I think it’s cleaner on the down tube. Using the shrink tube over the housing as a conduit for the rear brake light wire made it a no brainer.

Here's mine, just completed. Well, not yet, actually. It's still waiting for a red saddle. Or beige. Or yellow? Maybe white whit springs.

Thank you, SquidPuppet, I'll add the colours to the list.
The bike was made in 1976. It originally had the bigger 630 wheels with steel rims and a 3 speed SA hub, a chaincase and mudguards. If you're curious, I started a thread when I found this bike here.

I like it better stripped. A lot better. But I am biased. I do dig the generator light though. It adds some period correct style without the bulk of fenders and chain cases. And the stem is super cool.

It's not worth starting a new thread over - for the life of me I had a helluva time deciding where to post this nugget. So since dynamo lights seem to be a big deal on townies, and a Clem Smith was just posted...
Wasn't there somebody around here a while back who used part of a chainring to mount his dynamo light? Guess what? Now Rivendell is pushing the same idea in their latest newsletter...

And as long as i'm here...
I think the (hopefully)final version of my wife's bike is pretty much a stripped-down townie, amirite?

I'm glad you're curious. The bike still has the white Cinelli Unicanitor. I am still on the lookout for a suitable non-leather vintage-looking saddle. I've had my eyes on this one for a while (red or cream):
Gyes
Nevertheless, the Gazelle has proven to be a sweet ride in the countryside this autumn. I've done some 40 km rides that I've enjoyed more than I would have on a road bike. I'll post pictures when a new saddle arrives.

Huh, I didn't know they made their saddles in resin too, I've only had their leather stuff. IF you go with it, let us know how it turns out.

Resin. Interesting. I'd be really interested in a report if you get one.
