Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Also rode by ACU and it was 2-2 in the middle of the tenth as they hosted Ottowa University (not Canada) for some Softball. So I stayed to watch that game to its conclusion.

First I made sure there was no one on or around the courts that might have wanted to retrieve them, then ...

You look kinda goofy riding around with tennis balls in your pockets

Probably because he didn't have a cane.

Not as goofy as having them in your wheels.

I'm the opposite. Doesn't matter what a car was doing, as soon as it gets near me, it goes back to normal.

Ho hum, just another gorgeous Mt. Hamilton ride, with warmish temperatures, blue sky, little traffic, and not much wind.

I took a couple minutes off my best 2024 time, moving up to #20 on the all-time "old folks" (65-69) leaderboard.

Not so bad, building fitness gradually. 25 seconds more to take the #19 slot.

It's actually a status symbol in some parts of Phoenix and Scottsdale.

65 mile club ride today. Less climbing than last week but this time the pace was higher everywhere. Kicks my butt more than a little more climbing. Friend came along after not doing a club ride in months. I tried to tell her she would be fine and she was. She has a house @8000 feet in the Sierra Nevada mountains and when she rides a lot up there she just slays the hills here. A sandbagger but more from lack of confidence than arrogance.

Fave Herb Albert cover art parody. She and her old band stayed at our place in Portland in the 90s.
