Certain Equinox models had a problem where the sunroof wasn't adjusted correctly and water would run inside the A pillar and wet the wiring harness with the accelerator pedal position wiring. The engine light would come on and the throttle would barely work, if at all. I actually figured this out quickly instead of spending hours beating my head against the wall.

I've gone way beyond what makes sense when buying cars. I'm close to being done with that game.
I once said I would never spend more than $40k for a car. Then it was $60k. Then it was $80k. Then it was $100k. I'm looking back to the $60k mark when the Taycan lease is over since I'll be 67 and probably tired of working to pay for those things.

Still couldn't afford it. Most bonding companies require full collateralization.

When the Taycan lease is up, chances are I'll just turn it in and drive the Jeep since it is not old and holds my bike rack.
However, if the value of the Taycan makes it worth buying at lease end, I would do that and sell it while it is still under warranty.
No way I'm changing into a miser at this stage of my life. Too late and too many bad habits for that type of change of behavior.

Picked up the Giro Helios. The chin strap is not the greatest but nearly as bad as the ex made it sound like. I think it's a keeper. It is certainly light and looks well-ventilated.

The best straps that I've experienced are on the Lazer G1.
Granted, I've only had three helmets in the last several years.

One of the regional LBS chains has a promo for 40% off for helmets for "Fanatic" members (like me) this month. I've never found a helmet brand that fit me as well as Specialized, but this chain doesn't carry Spec. I was looking online and some have said that Lazers have a similar fit, so I might have to mosey on down and try one on.

Work rant: a patient of mine with a chronic condition went to a specialist. Apparently the patient wants or needs to use FMLA to cover work time lost for this appointment. The high-paid specialist refused to fill out the FMLA form for the patient and said that the primary care doc has to do it. So I am expected to do the dirty work for the specialist and not get paid a dime for all the hassle.
Phooey. No wonder the specialist is driving a Benz and I am driving a Saturn.

Today's Mexican dive. Food is great and the chicas are cute, but English doesn't get you far. Food is fresh and made to order. Maybe 8 tables. I'm in there at least once a week.

Hit a new-to-me, hole-in-the-wall, Mexican place for lunch today. Food was good, and I will be back.

Folks from my group tried another taqueria in Brisbane, but it was meh. The best ones are all in South San Francisco, but that's a bit of a jaunt for lunch, especially to pick up a burrito to eat back at the office.

My Go-To taqueria closed last month. It was a shocker to me. I went there for lunch and there was a big restaurant supply truck parked in front. I ran into the counter guy, who told me they'd lost their lease after 10 years. Now the landlord seems to be putting it together with the space that used to be a Vietnamese place that got wiped out by the lockdowns in 2020.

We have some good Mexican food in the area, but finding a good, cheap, hole-in-the-wall kind of place isn't easy, not in my area, at least. We had a Mexican place open up around the corner from us, and they went way too hoity-toity. The fact that they bombed, closed down and then re-opened, at slightly more reasonable prices and with more grounded food options, only reinforces that opinion. There are a couple of neighborhoods in the city that seem like really good candidates for what I'm looking for, but I don't find myself in those areas too often.

My Kask Monito Cubed chin strap is wonderful. So comfortable. Being made in Italy, you would expect that. It’s just too bad the thing has poor ventilation. It will now be relegated to commuting/around town transportation duty.
