Hey, it got me through ten days in Provence and Paris . . . .

I was on a French airline once and the stewardess came by with the drink cart and I thought I'd try out my severely limited vocabulary - I said "vahn" and pointed at a little bottle of wine. She said "vahn ??!!" and I said, "oui, vahn", and pointed again. Then she said "oh... vann!", and chuckled her little French cackle.

I figured out later that she must have thought I was asking for *twenty* bottles of wine.

France? Talk about poor planning! Got to go to the equator or the southern hemisphere at this time of year. Hawaii, Columbia, Costa Rica, Australia, etc.

And really, Bay Area isn't too bad.
