Anything with a non-sloping top tube and 700C wheels is gonna have a short head tube just to make 53 cm C-T. I can ride a 52 (and have for decades), but really should be on 51 and below.

I said goodbye to this one not long ago. Its fit was a little too french and it had been replaced in the riding rotation by the acquisition of the Gran Sport which fits better and is more fun to ride. I did remove the Huret Luxe and the B17 before moving it along. I have to say I agonized over parting with this bike more than I did with my 80 series Land Cruiser which also found a new home this fall - gas prices above $5/gallon helped with that. My kids, on the other hand, couldn't care less about the Super Course but are pissed that they can't borrow the Land Cruiser for snow trips/camping/hauling/towing any more

Bikes come and go, part of the fun while keeping the collection limited to a bakers dozen or less. Several went this year, only one new to me is still in the basement, and a Hetchins found its way back home.

I have a habit of underachieving. I have eight (well, perhaps nine) frames/bikes that I would be glad to see move along. They just haven't. On the other side, I've acquired three that I intend to hold onto, one additional to be a resident "guest bike", and a tandem this year - and have plans on one more also. After the dust does settle, I could only see myself possibly aspiring to two or three others in my lifetime. I don't blame you if you don't believe that. I'd be skeptical too.

No, I haven't built it up yet. I managed to acquire three other candidates for 650b conversion, and I'm still not 100% on any one of them. I think the A-D will be sticking around, though, even if it remains in 700c mode.

But, in an unusual move for me, I parted ways with 5 bikes.

A Scattante DX 350 (cracked)
A random steel Trek (Too much work)

Holding steady with the Cervelo R5, a Soma Buena Vista, 2 Rodriguezes, and a Public 8i Dutch style errand bike. My collection is the smallest it's been in a decade.

But on the plus side, I've got an IGH dropbar 29er/all-road mixte in the planning queue. 2024 is going to be awesome.

This now has a repainted SC as a stablemate, but the B is by far the prettier of the two. I just cannot get into the sloping fork crowns.

PS. If you host another spring ride, I will do my best to attend with the B, barring family health issues.

This thread was hurting my feelings, I have let some "keepers" go in 2023.

Now looking at it differently, some need to move. Just sold this one to someone who will give it a 2nd?/5th? life. I started cleaning this up (all the chrome was as rusty as the chain) but it was a bit big for me. Tried to give it away on BF, but no takers. Was about to it strip down to make space when someone replied to an old ad. Will now get finished and put back on the road, glad to have passed it along.



This one was one of the earlier bikes I bought, trying to figure out what I liked. Great rider, but cosmetically challenged paint (bubbles), also a little big. Was sitting un-loved in my garage, sold and now a daily rider for its new owner.


So these I was happy to pass along, don't want to talk about the others.

I've been semi-actively trying to sell 5 or 6 bikes since early summer. I say semi-actively because I haven't hit the point where I'm willing to ship.

Finally sold this Trek 614 at the Tucson swap meet in November. It was slightly cleaner than this at the time of sale.



If you know anybody who needs a tall mid-range road bike in the Phoenix area, send them my way. Still have a nice 1981-ish Peugeot Competition and a steel finish 1973 Schwinn Super Sport, among other things.

It's hard to imagine from looking in my garage, but I got rid of five bikes and frames this year.

First out the door was this Gitane. I tried to sell it here last December, but I had no takers. Eventually I found a home for it via the Gitane group on Facebook, where it sold the same day I put it on offer.



Next out, I think, was this 1979 Centurion Elite that I had revamped for the 2022 Clunker Challenge. If memory serves, I dropped this one off at Community Cycling Center.



In early March, I finally got a taker for this Serotta that I had tried to sell at the same time as the Gitane, later offered on FB, and finally, just as I was about to decide to keep it, I got a message from a member here asking if it was still available.



In May, I think, this Performance Superbe, the last of the three bikes I tried to sell last December finally left me, as ollo_ollo followed through on a promise he made months earlier to buy it when he got back to Oregon.



Finally in July, I took my 1989 Cannondale ST400 east where it became my zero bike, and the old zero bike, a Fuji Cross Comp came home with me. I gave it to a friend who coaches a youth cycling team and he gave it to one of his racers who placed third in his first CX race.

My Vanni Losa found a great new home in Rochester NY. Too many bikes, and this one would have gotten lost in the shuffle of three grail frames that came my way.
