Bicycle Fixation -- https://bicyclefixation.com/shop.html

excellent customer service, their knickers are ace! mine prematurely wore out and Richard agreed to replace them and gave me another pair at a significant discount. This small company supports sustainability and simply makes great apparel for cyclists.

Texas Cyclesport Service was Very Good

Texas Cyclesport was by far the best I have bought with. Not only are their prices good. Their Customer Service before during and after the sale was great. Got my bike quick that I bought with them.

You do not see many shops that know what they are doing and are actually polite and treat you with respect.

So I would say these guys created a very positive experience for me. They get an A+

Cima Coppi gets two big "thumb's up" from me.

https://www.cimacoppi.ca/

This is a one-man operation making great wool jerseys at a reasonable price - not cheap. but reasonable. Don't feel limited by what is shown in the website - Lawrence does custom stuff, including making bigger sizes than listed. He did for me.

He's great to deal with. He's fast. He's someone you will feel about giving your money to.

Banning's Bikes in Fullerton, CA... repaired a broken spoke on my vintage 27" wheel (rear wheel, drive side) for $21. This included removing the tire, freewheel, and truing the wheel after the new spoke was installed, plus replacing the freewheel and the tire. Then when I came in to pick it up, they gave my then-five-year-old son a candy bar that caught his eye. They literally refused to take money for the candy bar, and steered him away from the caffeine-containing energy bar that he grabbed first. These are good people.

In the Northern VA area I would highly recommend Bonzai for all things triathlon- terrific customer service and excellent bike guys! www.tribonzai.com For a LBS I would recommend The Bike Lane www.thebikelane.com They are extremely patient and do not try to up sell you. They just care about getting you a good quality bike that you will ride for years.

www.realcyclist.com is awesome!

I came across this website just this week. Realcyclist.com has an unconditional 30 day money-back guarantee. I have been having a difficult time finding a good fitting pair of cycling shoes because my toes are wide but the rest of my foot is not. Most bike shops will not allow you to return shoes once you have mounted the clips and tried them out. But for me, I really can't tell if a shoe is going to work for me until I actually ride in it. I just bought a pair of Mega Sidi's - the toes are great but my heel is slipping a ton. I am going to take them back try a Shimano and some other shoe. I love having the piece of mind in knowing that I can try-out the shoe and not get stuck with a pair that doesn't fit. The guy said even if I trash them I could return them within 30 days (though I am very careful to keep them in excellent condition - don't want to take advantage of this awesome policy). And as an added bonus, they are located in Salt Lake where I live, so can just go pick them up!

Harris Cyclery
https://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/index.html

Thanks to the efforts of the late Sheldon Brown, I've learned more about bikes than probably from any other source. Harris was very responsive to my Email questions, and I ordered tires and brake pads (Kool Stops, of course) to get my '86 Schwinn back on the road.

Bonney Lake Bike Shop in Sumner, WA
https://www.bonneylakebicycleshop.net/

Seattle Bike Supply
https://www.seattlebikesupply.com/

Basil
https://www.basil.nl/

Bonney Lake Bike Shop is my LBS, and I highly recommend them. Very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. They give a free bike maintenance class every month, and it was well worth it. They also provide free maintenance on bikes they sell. My oldest son's bike came from there, and once my daughter outgrows her BBS bike we'll buy her LBS bike there. I'm trying to get my wife back on a bike, and we've stopped in so they could show her bikes and let her stew on it.

I bought a Basil bag from Bonney Lake Bike Shop. Had it for a few months, and one of the clips broke. They contacted their supplier, Seattle Bike Supply, and a brand new replacement was sent. Another year and a half goes buy, and the clip breaks again. I didn't expect them to replace it, but I was wanting to get it repaired and the broken clip replaced, so I figured they would best be able to direct me. Mine had been discontinued, the Preston Office Bag, but they offered up a free replacement Preston Shoppers Bag.

Service from my LBS and their supplier is superb. Product from Basil is awesome. I'm sad they discontinued the Preston Office Bag because it had a lot of great features that I really loved. Even had it's own little built-in "rain coat".

Serfas
https://www.serfas.com/

I bought a Serfas Seat Stay light, and over a period of months the silicone straps started breaking. I tugged tighter and used the next loop, but eventually it would not hold. I cut the straps completely off and attached it with twisters. I checked the Serfas website to search for a replacement silicone body, which I was willing to buy, but found none. After Emailing Serfas, they responded back, asked me to mail in what was left of the light, and they would replace it. Shipped me out a brand new replacement.

Brodie Bicycles, Vancouver, BC

How many bike manufacturers can you call and get a personal, caring, conversational response with individualized follow-up, instead of referral to a dealer or distributor?

I inquired about a particular bike that I could not get from a local dealer, because Brodie has no distribution on the east cost of the US. The bike was sold out for this model year.

When a dealer wanted to return the bike I wanted, they called me and offered to ship it to me. Granted, it was a win/win, because the bike had a couple of scratches and they couldn't send it to a dealer as new, but for the manufacturer to call an individual consumer, make them a deal, and ship a single bike across the continent is pretty damned good service as far as I am concerned.

And, the day the bike arrived, I got an email asking if everything was okay. It was. I'm happy. I trust this company. They make nice bikes, and their heart is in what they do.

On 8/10/11 I had an appointment at the VA in Ann Arbor, Mi. So I stopped in at Wheels in motion to see if they had sold my dream bike (a Trek Rumbullfish). While there I was talking to the service department about the non-profit I volunteer at (Re-Bicycle of Lenawee) and without a moment of hesitation he told me to donate a bike that someone had dropped off at there back door. Thanks guys it will be put to good use!

I buy bike stuff at WalMart and I enjoy it. I like WalMart.

Does this count as a positive experience at a cycling related business?

Bicycle Specialists in Joplin, MO
https://www.bicyclespecialists.com/
Zero attitude and prices that are comparable to online with shipping. I can walk in and ask for x random part for whatever vintage thing I'm working on, and they'll find it for me.

BikeWorldUSA's own website is a mess, but their Amazon store is massive and their shipping is fast and inexpensive. If I can't find it locally, I can find it through them.

After all, as mentioned in another thread, when someone has a bad experience with a business he/she tells everyone ... but when someone has a good experience with a business he/she tells no one.

So let's change that trend!!

I'm sure we've all dealt with one or more cycling-related business ... let's hear all the positive things about them!!

I'll start:

Nashbar - https://www.nashbar.com/ - I've been dealing with them for 8 years and have not had a problem. They've always shipped the things I ordered quickly (which is especially good considering anything I order has to go through customs). The people I've talked to on the phone have been friendly and helpful. The prices have been great! And when I have had to return the occasional item, their return policy is good.

Sierra Trading Post - https://www.sierratradingpost.com/ - I've been dealing with them for a little over a year now and have also not had a problem with them. The most positive thing I can say about them is that they've probably got the fastest shipping on the planet!!! I feel like I hang up the phone and UPS is ringing my doorbell with my order. It's not quite that fast, but stuff does arrive usually in about 2 days. The people I talk to on the phone are friendly and helpful, and their prices on many items are excellent.

Velotique - https://www.velotique.com/storey.htm - I've only dealt with them once, but it was a positive experience. I got the item I ordered (a jersey) in good time as expected ... and that jersey is one of my favorites. One thing I really like about them is their catalogues ... they show a sense of humor.

AE Bike - https://aebike.com/index.cfm - I've only dealt with them once, but it was a positive experience. I got the items I ordered in decent time as expected. When I emailed them with questions prior to placing the order, with my order, and with a question after placing the order, they were very prompt to give me a good response. They have good prices and were very helpful.

Wallingford Cycles - https://www.wallbike.com/index.php - I've only dealt with him once, but am seriously considering a second purchase. I was not at all sure about purchasing a Brooks saddle, but he has the best guarantee on Brooks saddles (or any saddles, for that matter) that I've ever seen. Then I was told to email him and ask him any questions I had ... which I did ... and he was very helpful.

Mountain Equipment Coop - https://www.mec.ca/Main/home.jsp - I've been dealing with them for several years and have had positive experiences the whole time. They are probably my main source for most cycling-related gear. Their shipping charges in the past were free or next to it. I think they do charge a little bit for shipping now, but I usually go to the store now anyway. They have come through for me when my handlebar bag mount broke, and when I needed spare bulbs for a rather obscure light. They try to be environmentally conscious. And they provide lots of extra services for their customers such as classes, gear swap events, and equipment rentals.

Now it's your turn ...
13726 views, 187 replies. this is NOT good, BUT i'll try to shift (pardon pun) the axis a little. personally, i DO spread the word when treated at least fairly, and i carry their business cards, being kinda sorta likea missionary.

these are in the metro denver (colorado, there are other denvers) area:

bike depot of park hill, denver www.bikedepot.org

westside cycling/fitness, lakewood closed- see below

bd is non-profit

update: westside closed doors feb 15, will re-open as campus cycles on april 1, 2012

metro denver:

bike depot 2825 fairfax street, denver a non-profit shop
they have fix your own bike days and i participated in three. staff was congenial and helpful. would guide you along on a project, but you'd do the work. use of work station (repair stand and tools) was gratis. used parts sometimes available (depends on item).

westside cycling 7310 west colfax (a block east of wadsworth on south side- across the street from walmart) for profit shop

major helpful when i needed mods for a wrecked neck and other injuries. i donated my lightly used original parts for someone less fortunate. they like to died w/excitement. i had spent 2 years in severe riding pain and was about to give it up. between a physical therapist who rides and westside i have ridden pain-free for 6 years.

Wallingford Bicycle Parts - great service, and best return policy on Brooks saddles- "We guarantee you will be satisfied with your new leather saddle by giving a SIX-MONTH UNCONDITIONAL GUARANTEE on all new saddles from Brooks and Berthoud." Truly nice folks too.
Tree Fort Bikes - have made several orders here, great service, fast, responsive phone support for tech questions.
REI- Prices are competitive, and a replacement/return policy that takes ALL the worry out of buying.
SARIS- Have had several items on my Bones 3 replaced gratis, without asking for free.
Topeak- same deal from Topeak- inquired about replacement parts (vibrated off) for my Morph pump, free replacements showed up in the mail.

I recently bought some Panaracer tires and a bunch of other stuff from https://BicycleEverything.com and I found them to be competively priced, and I received the order in four days, which is faster than I expected. A bit later I called to ask some questions and got a machine, however, I got called back not long afterward and spoke with Doug there and he gave me what I now realize was very good advice on a bunch of things I asked him, most notably tire questions and lighting stuff. I didn't expect that level of service from an online retailer, but I was very nice to get it, as tires and lighting are both very important things for me and I am sure it would have taken me some time asking questions here and elsewhere to get the accurate info he gave me, faster.

I definitely plan to shop there again.

Purchased a Cateye TL-LD1100 from Amazon. Rode with it twice and loved it! 3rd trip was a car trip to the greenway and then a couple of hours on the greenway where the light was not used. Got home from the greenway and the light was gone! The clip was still there where I had it clipped to my seat bag, but no light. I've never, ever had a light just come off like that while carrying a bike on a vehicle or riding on paved roads.

I wrote to Cateye asking if they shouldn't assume some of the responsibility for making a mount that would come off so easily. I asked if I could buy a refurb as paying another $32 so soon would hurt. Lo and behold, they sent me a replacement brand new unit at no charge. I'm a happy camper and have since bought my 2nd wireless computer. Can't beat good customer service. Recommended!!!

I missed a Thanksgiving sale on Brooks B17 saddles for $79 at ModernBike.com that included free shipping. I called to ask if the sale would be repeated and the salesperson said he would still honor the sale pricing. I got the saddle 4 days letter and was very pleased with the transaction.

I'm in the midst of a relieving deal with Performancebike.com.

I bought an Access XCL9r frame last spring, on sale, when my faithful Dakar XLT frame developed a crack. Three weeks ago, I discovered a crack in the XCL... in the SAME PLACE! (seam above top tube, on seat tube) The XCL's, however, was like a frog's mouth, gaping open.

Upon contacting Performance, I discovered: they were perfectly willing to exchange the frame; and: since they didn't have any the right size, they agreed to refund my purchase!

The frame went out by FedEx yesterday (with THEIR prepaid label!), and I am waiting patiently for my refund.

(Oh, and some 'ghetto engineering' is crutching the Dakar along for commuting, until February; that will see me build up a Santa Cruz Butcher!)
