don't know those systems, inform us. Or at least link us.

don't know the tech of the competitive 2 speed rear hub, either.

I'm the messenger, not the project(s) engineer.

They're all planetary gear systems, and you can look them up yourself faster than I can look them up and post them. While you're at it, look up 'sturmey archer dual drive'.

I didn't ask the question.....

besides I wait for products to enter a more mature manufacturing volume before I jump.

This isn't 3rd grade and you don't get to assign answering your question as homework.

NuVinci Continuously Variable Transmission - Wikipedia

"NuVinci CVT technology is currently under development for additional applications... wind turbines,...outdoor power equipment,...automotive front-end accessory drives."

I cannot think of a lower profit margin market than bicycles, especially any bicycles not in the high performance racing category.

I remember considering NuVinci for a tandem that featured independent pedaling for captain & stoker, back in the mid-90s.

A pity that the video is gone... One of the Honda gearboxes used cams and a one-way clutch to produce an infinitely variable output. Back in about 1990 I knew an Australian guy called Eric Willmot who invented and patented this gearbox (Australian patents 1991906266 and 1992902568). Both patents have lapsed so I guess he didn't find a commercial application / backer. I helped him make a working model - it was a clever idea but I had my doubts that the output would ever be smooth enough or vibration-free. I have no idea if Honda used his design or developed the idea independently.
