I'm taking the time off the road to work on a couple of bikes Ive been meaning to sort out for months.
My BSA bad weather commuter has been showing the effects of being used as a bad weather commuter, so with Winter coming it's having a complete strip down, repaint and rebuild.
Also ongoing is the Motobecane bought a few months ago, waiting on a pair of wheels to arrive.

Quick release panniers
I wanted a set of leather panniers that were quick release and portable by a handle for light loads and a shoulder strap for heavy duty carry. 
Used a split broom handle a a spine to allow a bolt on to a wish-bone attached to the rack (to the right of the leather). A axle wing nut secures the spine that is bolted to leather square that holds both panniers. Two headset hangers provide a ring for the shoulder strap clasps. Brake cable thru 4 inches of stainless steel tubing makes a handle in the middle of the photo a
The wishbone hinges up to clear the securing stud and the luggage can lifted off. The wing nut goes back on the stud and is tethered to the with bag handle with more brake cable.

This is just a mock-up as the saddle & wheels may change.
Upgrades may come if the ride is worthy. Looks like 23s on the rear unless I dremel a bit.
Frame/Fork/headset/bars compliments of @Brewsmith.
Also still needs a good polish.

I found this '78 Peugeot on local CL. I love the color, only seen 1 other gold one. I changed out the brake levers, removed the Stronglight TS (stripped French pedal thread) serviced BB and put on Sugino GT 52/34, always wanted to try that configuration, jury is still out. Front plastic simplex derailleur was broken, and off the bike when I got it. I replaced it with a Shimano Exage, which works OK, but has some chain rub on the FD lower cage screw when in small small gear. Yesterday I added strap on bottle cage mount from Elite, hoping to not damage the decent paint and decals. Still unsure of model number on this bike, was told PN10, heard maybe PS10, still not sure. Fun bike to ride. First serious ride is today's Pasadena Vinrage ride.

Decided to degrease the headset and bottom bracket on my thrift store Miele. First thing I discover is the headset is the 600 with cartridge bearings, so nothing to do there. Bottom bracket was a cup and cone campy, which didn’t match the mirage cranks... pulled it and along with clean grease came a nicely polished spindle. Looks like chorus, a nice upgrade from the mirage I thought I had. Inside on the shell was nice and clean, so I checked for rifleing in the tubes. None, so it’s sl tubing. The mitering and finishing inside of the shell was as clean as the lugs on the outside.
No pics because I forgot. Sorry. I was so excited that my thrift find hadn’t be abused like so many other nice bikes out there.

The other thing is my pine mountain... been working on that for a while. Found it on Facebook for $50 and decided I would make it a drop bar conversation.

Got curious and started stripping the paint...
Decided I should strip It to the frame and see how much black paint I could get off. Left a little to remind me of where this bike has been.
Getting built back up.
Found some old bars, bar cons, and and ideale saddle.
As is now. Rides great... much more cormfortable. Just need bar tape and it’s done.

5 months after getting this 87 Nishiki Crest GT from @The Thin Man, I finally have it rebuilt to the point I could take it for a test ride this morning, as I suspected I really like it! I only went about 3 km but I had a big goofy grin when I got back, I have a few tweaks to make and maybe one more, longer, test ride before I wrap the bars and call it done.

I have been LOVING watching this come together, blog post after blog post. If not for you, @ryansu, that frame would still be collecting dust in my basement. I'm so happy it went to the right fella. Enjoy the hell out of it!!

Pouring buckets again around here (what a season). No riding so I continued on the drop bar conversion to my '95 Trek 850. Then touched up the wheel trues for the Raleigh and the Crescent. Three of em needed nothing but I tightened one rear 1/4 turn to all spokes then dressed em to less than 1/2 mm of wiggle. That'll do. Checked the hub adj's too but they're still just fine.
Stared out the window at the flooded streams. Kicked rocks. Walked the GSD.

I'll have to post a build thread of it, but I completed my full-boat refurbishing of my '81 Trek 710. She is a beautiful bike and is such a sweet ride. The combination of 600 Arabesque RD geometry (aka not slant parallelogram) and 7-speed, Hyperglide-toothed cassette make for fidgety--or just over-eager--shifting. I'm learning the ways of this particular setup in its nearly 40-year-old condition.
Did some sleuthing to tame the noises caused by the fenders I mounted to my '74 Paramount. Yes, it is now a rain/winter bike! I have grown weary of canti brakes. Limited braking power combined with insane noise levels have killed it (mostly) for me--and I set things up well, with Kool Stops. I like the fender clearance and I love the classiness, aesthetic, and visual statement of status-in-the-lineup that cantis communicate. Seattle, and really, the city environment combined with steep hills and skittery traffic, is pretty hostile to safe operation of less-than-razor-sharp bike setups. I could ride at a sloth-like pace, and then could use almost anything, but if one is to get about with a modicum of efficiency, it is best to bring a gun to a gun fight. Machined brake tracks, Kool Stop pads, good levers, cables and housings, and a very eager pair of dual pivot side-pull calipers means that I have enthusiastic braking with out vibration, noise, or power limits. Plus it looks really sharp.
