Here is a pic of a self extractor and its internal bits. There is the washer that goes between the bolt and crankarm, then the bolt, the nylon or teflon or whatever bearing washer then the cap.

It is indeed 7mm. I found a 7mm socket at Lowes. $5.85.

So.....not having pulled a Campy, I'm guessing I can use the socket to pull off the crank arms and then get at the lock ring.

I may have missed it but do I need a special extractor?
The only thing you need to remove and install the crank is the 7mm. The bolt stays in the crank when it comes off....you don't need to mess with any of that assembly unless the bolt is broken, stripped, etc.

Are you all certain Victory cranks have left and extractor threads? NON- self extracting Victory cranks are right hand thread threads on both sides, I cant see Campy making 2 versions of the lowly Victory crank.

I thought it was the Campy Triomphe crank that didn't have the extractor?
