They're renters, right?

Easiest thing would be to just wait, then some day when you run into them (hopefully the bike's owner!) face to face, just bark "how much do you want for the old ten-speed?

If they're not too quick-witted, the might cop to the "just take it" reality of their expectations, but if they're sharp they will strike a quick deal.

Don't pay too much!!!

hahaha. The Yellow bar tape symolized the high school's colors. Blue and Yellow. It's probably the older high school boy's bike. Did I mention there are no tires on the bike?

Did you see them put the bike there, themselves? Maybe someone else dumped it there, and your neighbors

1) Are easygoing people who assume whomever owns it will come back when they are good an ready to
2) Are amused by the mysterious and serendipitous addition to their eclectic yard ornaments

Latest update?

On a serious note, did you move to BFE Oklahoma? Texas/Oklahoma is serious Meth country. (What state is not now) Watch yourself. Ask around.

It's still there and, no, I moved to one of the best neighborhoods in one of the best cities in the state. I'm sticking to my plan to put a note on their door.

Take that Black Sabbath album cover and print it onto some cardstock the size of a post card. Then mail it to them adressed to Brushy Bike Owners. Write the text with your wrong hand in thick pencil. Say that you “want ta ristory da bike” then cross that out and write “I mean fixemup the bike to ride”. Sign it as “My uncle’s nephew who lives next door to you” then add “I mean my uncle lives next door to you” then add with your good writing hand “and my uncle isn’t mean”.
add a hand drawn $20 bill at the bottom of the card.

I suspect the real story is that the high school son who’s bike it is got a flat tire and then got mad and just threw it in the bushes, and that the parents don’t care as long as they don’t have to look at it and don’t trip over it.

I didn't see Sasquatch in either photo, but I see a dude in a fedora poking his head out from behind the tree in the OP's photo.

Would you consider a trade for a neighbor who has declared his yard an "animal habitat" complete with signs? He's built 8 or more little igloo houses in his yard and covered them with leaves---so the critters can have a cozy home. We have so many skunks in the neighborhood now that you never don't smell them! ((Side note...there are two less skunks visiting my yard now).
