not a good look. I'm not sure if they could improve it without just removing the second tube

I'm not of the look myself and I like most all top tubes regardless of how they slope... 1 top tube for 1 bike I say, anything else is a slippery slope that will end up like the razor blade wars...

I actually just took that one for a test ride a few days ago, but it's a 64cm, so it potentially makes a bit more sense here. But even then, I felt like it was just added to to raise the quirk value.

I'd skip it and get a different frame, because in the end, for the first frame you're buying in 10 years, you want to be in love with it! You could also look for a used 56cm Hillborn somewhere...

Well done.

A happy ending.

I was at the shop last Saturday and they were building a "single" top tube Sam up.

I think the bike will be a real beauty and a pleasure to ride.

Why don't you post a follow up foto upon completion?

We'd enjoy that.

I would have welcomed a second top tube on my Hunqapillar but the 54 cm fit me and doesn't come with it. Structurally it helps reduce the main triangle and the flex in the seat tube created by bigger.riders which results in a "mushy" feel at the bottom bracket. I'm 6' tall and a lifetime of weight training has made me heavier than most my size. The classic frames I've owned with Reynolds 531 (Follis and Trek) have both felt spongey under anymore than normal stress. I think GP has made the right decsion here despite the fact that it seems to upset the VC sensibilities for tradition.

You're 6' tall and ride a 54cm frame?

I agree that a double top tube would be beneficial for a guy riding a 60+ cm frame and weighing 200+ pounds. Beneficial, but still unattractive.

Short legs, I barelyclear the bar @56cm on a straight tube. With 6 degree slope, the best I can do is 54. I end up with a longer stem for comfort.
