Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If this were boatforums.net I would have done a little more research. Whatever it was, it was majesticly plodding along.

My bike at the new bridge over the Trinity River

Another pic of the ride. Not my bike, but I love this picture of the river in the rain.

It looks idyllic, but on the right across the river is Colonial Country Club, on the left behind the trees is a huge rail yard.

Got a project on the road today:

Bought it for the awesome decal on the seattube.

Best I can figure, it's a late 60's mercier. Simplex everywhere. Tossed these wheels on for today because the stock wheels had a broken spoke. Heavy as a crap, but it's damn comfortable.

I know, you bet on it especially after this year.

Never seen so much rain, absolutely unreal but this week has been gorgeous, only a bit of rain yesterday.

Promising to be a lovely week

Had to sell it after a yr of riding it b/c the top tube was just too short for me. I'm probably in the minority on this but the look of today's modern bikes cannot touch the look of a hot steel racing bike w/ chrome fork & chrome stays
