i like the new look. the only thing that is bugging me is the threads per page.

All change gets some getting used to. You'll get used to it in time. The old format was far from perfect.

I think that might only be for people who paid their few bucks to get the red star.

I think less content may have to do with it being the end of November as well.

The real problem I see with the new forum is with the new graphics and more white space, there definitely appear to be fewer threads on the first page.
Given that people often don't scroll past the first page, that equals fewer active topics, which anectdotally appears to be decreasing participation.
Bike forums certainly doesn't need less meaningful content.

I posted about this in "Technical Difficulties" thread ( https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...-Thread/page16 ) (damn, lost the ability to add HTML tags) in post #459.

THANK YOU for confirming that there are indeed fewer threads per page!! I used to have it set at 50, and I think Rowan had it set at something higher than that. This definitely needs to be fixed so we can set it to higher numbers again ... especially since this new format times out on me or hangs when I try to go to the second page.

I think I've had enough of the new UI. It's just not ready for prime time. Later.

Decline in traffic is probably more attributable to the weather and holiday season coming up. Bikes just aren't on as many peoples minds this time of year.
The old format had 19 threads per page whereas the new format has 16 (comparing BF to CF). It now takes 6 pages to cover what could be previously be covered in 5. Not a big deal.

I would be fine with this if the excess whitespace could go away. To me, that is the single most annoying thing from a UI standpoint (the technical issues are another matter entirely).

Graphically it just looks like crap. The eyes rebel. Plus, I can't navigate directly to the last page of a long tread. WTF?

From the vBulletin site.-
"Asking coders/designers about vBulletin 4.0 and their releases.
Asking them to upgrade their work while vBulletin 4.0 is still in Beta, and probably before the production version of vBulletin 4.0 has been released for some time, only annoys people and will probably not make them release their work on vBulletin 4.0 any sooner. We therefor request not to ask such questions for now in the 3.x release forums. Please keep an eye on the 4.0 release forums to see if a modfication or style is available on vBulletin 4.0."
What does "still in Beta" mean?

I do like the older version, which I have used since 2004. Perhaps the old one was not supported by the software maker any more? Otherwise, I would not be at all sad to see this wonderful board go back to the old style.
I do agree that the shorter pages makes for posts going cold or dead much faster as I too would not go back much further than two pages.

Decline in content and quality, though it is the Fall. I tend to not check the second page either which is why I prefer the way it was before since there was more page space for active threads. Clicking on page two isn't a big deal though so hopefully people will get used to it or the admins can make some changes.

How lazy have we become where page 2 is too much of an effort to view? Point. Click. This would be an issue if there were one thread per page, but then, that would be ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as going to page 2.
