This one gets the most attention from the Carbon and Lycra crowd....They seemed to be bewildered by it. But, it also gets the most road time....so maybe an old man with a beard on a bicycle just gets noticed?

Still learning
Not vintage, not classic, but it is pretty classic looking. I've got the identical Gary Fisher.
Last time I was downtown with it, I bumped into a fellow car collecting friend who said, "figures that would be yours!"

No one pays attention to my bikes.
BTW- yesterday was a "vintage" bike bonanza out on the bike trail. Non-aero brake cables waggling in the wind EVERYWHERE!

This one gets the most attention. I think it may be that people think it's older than it actually is.

Some nice looking bikes on here! This is probably the bike I get the most attention for, seeing that it is neon and pretty simple. Also tiny. It doesn't look like this currently, but this is the only photo I have until I get home and can take a better picture. It's a 1980-something unknown brand. I'm guessing Univega because the forks are, but when I bought it I was told they weren't original. Also because when I bought it I was told it was a Trek, but the serial number doesn't match their numbering system even a little.

98 Schwinn Panther
Thanks for posting that Pedersen, saw one a few weeks ago and could not get close to it to see what it was! Here is my conversation starter, one of the first of this model and built well with a few minor additions I made. Cane Creek brake on the rear wheel with big white Schwalbe Fat Franks and a Pletcher kickstand. Matching Brooks seat with some other brand grips. This aluminum bike is very very light, but most of the questions are about the carbon fibre "look" fenders.

My bikes never get noticed. Our tandem does occasionally. Otherwise there are so many high-end bikes that everyone is too busy showing off their own to notice anyone else's bike.

The most attention grabbing has to be my Vitus 979. Like the hot pink Trek on page 1, the color turned heads. I guess it was rare. I built it on a bet on who could create the most unique looking road bike during the height of the 80s. I saw plenty of red, blue, silver and even a few purple Vitus 979s, but few rose models. Surprisingly, another entry was also pink....a repainted Romani in Imron pastel pink. But mine was 'louder'.
It used to turn heads as I drove through midtown Manhattan with it strapped to the bike carrier.

Not a recent pic I have since upgraded the wheels to Mavic CXP's but this bike is the one that seems to get the most attention of the 50 so bikes I have owned built up and riden around in the past couple of years. Early 70's Jeunet with unique bad paint that many of the women at the bike coop refer to as pretty.

Easy to get noticed and engage in conversation when I ride this vintage Moulton in group rides or simply park downtown.. this is a separable 1986 Alex Moulton AM-14s (sports model) .. the bike is unrestored and basically stock except for tires, pedals, bars, bar end shifter and saddle... it rolls on 17" ERTO 369 rims with the Schwalbe Kojak tires as the only easily available rubber .. gearing is 62/52 upfront and a proprietary 7spd 9/30 in the back yielding 29 to 114 g/i .. the seat post houses a tire pump .. the allen key for the seat clamp, and to remove the front shifter (for separating the front and rear halves), lives in a little rubber bung under the saddle ... a space frame design hand brazed in England at Bradford on Avon using Reynolds 531 tubing with front and rear suspension .. this is a very efficient, comfortable bike to ride for hours at a time..

The dogbones capture friction dampening discs which can be adjusted by tightening the locknuts .. the main suspension spring lives in the head tube ... there are a few different spring rates available .. the rear suspension is a rubber cone which has very little travel.. the ride is quite smooth and easily more comfortable for long sessions than my 700c bikes without giving up much in the way of speed..
