That stuff will let me fix nearly any flat, regardless of how tight a tire might be on a wheel, and will get a broken chain going again. I also have light medical stuff (bandages, and healing cream) and my daughter's inhaler when we go together. I may also add a brake and shift cable to the bag and a small pair of needle nose pliers with snippers. This stuff weighs hardly anything, and I'm already carrying the trunk bag anyway. And then my phone and wallet and keys go into the trunk also.

I don't carry this stuff as much for me, but to be able to help others while out riding.
I can relate, while I have had a flat once and my handlebars needed tightening once, I enjoy helping others out on the trails not as well equipped. The thanks I received more than make up for the added weight, plus you get to meet interesting people!

Yep. We once crossed paths with a young lady who had her bike on the ground and her seat in her hand. Of course, we stopped to see if we could help, and the bolt (M6 or M8 or whatever it is) that attaches the seat clamp to the seat post had sheared in half. We had a multi tool to remove the bolt head from the seat post, but we didn't have a replacement bolt for her. An auto parts store wasn't too far away, so we suggested we take the bolt there, as they'd likely have something that would work, at least in a pinch. Unfortunately, we can't help everyone, but it is rewarding to be able to help when we are able.

Everything but the kitchen sink

Spare tube, puncture repair kit, tyre levers, multi-tool, pump, lock and cable, phone, wallet and reading glasses all in a lightweight top box on my rear rack.
