Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nice bike! How do you like the propel? Any aero advantages that you can notice? I just ordered an aero bike and i feel like trading weight for aero seems more of a hype than a real thing.

I use to ride a TCR advanced SL. I found that to be very stiff, to the point of brutal.
The propel is more compliant which has been nice.

Naw, personally don't see the aero benefit, I just like the way it looks.

It's strange, i've mostly heard that aero bikes are often stiffer than their standard counterparts. I am sacrificing about 1 pound going aero.. I guess it really doesn't matter since it's 99.9% rider. I do hope I am making the right choice with the new bike.

Here is giants tests.

tcr
https://www.giant-bicycles.com/backo...8211;FINAL.pdf

propel
https://www.tealsport.com/_upload/sho...st_Results.pdf

The weight of my TCR with reynolds 46 tubular and red 22 was 13.9lbs
the weight of my propel with zipp 202 fc clincher and 9000 is 15.5lbs.

I'm happy with the weight, as it was way to light at 13.9, handling was very light and twitchy.

which bike did you get, venge?

Yes ended up going with the S Works Venge with 9000 and 404FC clinchers w. integrated power tap. I hope it is fairly light (14.5-15.5lbs.) since I'd like to climb some in it as well.

Does medium/dark gray count as black? Here's the latest incarnation of my 2012 Parlee Z5 SLi after custom repainting...Zipp 202 clinchers replacing cheap chinese wheels...eebrakes replacing TRP. It's just a tad too icy to ride today...

Any noticeable difference anywhere between the farsports and the zipps?

I do too, and I may just leave the decals as is. Although I did take off the stupid red firecrest logo....

Don't know yet, just got the Zipps mounted yesterday. I'll report back later after a few rides.

Egads - look at that horrendous chromatic aberration! Don't you correct this photoshop?!

Oh, wait - this isn't the photography forum. Disregard.

Sweet wheels, but why didn't you go with the faster ghosted decals?

1. Cheap camera + reflectivity off snow and ice = moderate chromatic aberration, a small price to pay for being dumb enough to go out and freeze my fingers taking photos...

2. Well, um...I have indeed ordered the black decals, but with less than 24 hours to let this version sink in, I can't make a decision yet. However, I was indeed noticeably faster on the ice today....

@gc3, Im sure you have seen it before, but I like the firecrest being left on while all the other logo's have been taken off. I think the black logo's will look very nice! I have thought about doing the blacked out Enve logo's on mine

Actually seeing it up close and in person, I didn't care for it on my bike, although I thought beforehand that I would...who can know these things?

That's what I plan on doing when I mount mine up. Other than the white Zipp logos on my bars, my bike is murdered. I like the matte black logos and thought about putting them on there but ya know, that's like 4 grams...

Your stem looks ugly. I mean the tube it is connected to. Your saddle is too paddy for the general aero look of the bike. Seattube looks also too plain. If i hadn't see the rest of the picture i would say this is a touring bike just by looking at the saddle and the tube.
