I have the bike stripped to the frame, so I can't try that. Actually I don't think that would be accurate as the suspension fork would have to be loaded with rider to get correct measurement. Also, I built the bike from bare frame so the fork I used was not the original one that came on a factory built Zaskar so it may be the wrong length already.

PM sent about seat post...

26.8 mm for the xtr seatoost and 27 mm for the xt seatpost. both went in and out the frame quite easy. originally it is 27 mm if I am not mistaking

I installed the Tange Big Fork with a threaded head set I already had to see it it can work. Put the wheels on without tires, set it on the floor, and measured the head tube angle. It's 72-1/2 degrees. Does that look like it will work or is it too steep? This is for road use, and I don't want twitchy steering. Now I need to source an 1-1/8" quill stem to try it out.

the top tube angle does not seem to steep , actualy quite fine
well how about €40 for the xt seat post? I have lots of parts but ( a nos Tioga avengers oversized stem as well) I understand that costs can rise as hell if you are buying all nos and near nos vintage parts.
I went all out on this GT. I have an idea how much I spent on it, but try to ignore it ( a lot ) )))
where would I have to sent the seatpost to. the €40 is without shipping costs. I will post some pics first and then deside

It's built up with modern compnonents to 21.1 lbs. I have ridden it only 3 times and it is simply a rocket with very smooth trail feel. I'd love to ride it more, but it is too pretty to risk.
OMG. What a coincidence that I was just searching up old Univegas on Google Images tonight.

looks good from here. and nice looking shop! Its such a bling frame that I like the softness of the grey and black components on your original build. it would look real ncie with all grey- but thats pretty hard to find. if ti was a road bike i'd be like 8 speed Tricolor! but not sure about MTB components- if there ever was a dark anodized grey set

I tried a 27mm SP from my neighbors bike, it's a no-go. The 1" suspension post I had with the original build has an adapter that is labeled 26.8mm. My frame requires a 26.8mm SP so I can't use your 27mm XT. Thanks anyway...

I need some ideas for getting my bars and seat closer to level with each other. The headset I used with the rigid fork is a vintage Tioga Avenger 1-1/8" HS with a 1" ID. I want to use a new stem with as short a reach as possible as the frame has a pretty long top tube. Also. I want to raise it a lot to match the seat height for an upright riding position. I will be using a Jones SG 2.5 Aluminum Loop H-Bar or something similar. Looking for stem or adapter plus stem suggestions that don't look too goofy.

How did you manage bar ends and those type of levers?
What handlebars are those? What brake levers?

The bars are Soma Oxford, and the brake levers are Shimano Deore XT M732. You can kinda see in this photo how the shifter cable lays against the brake lever clamp (on the left side):

So here's a before and after of a '93 Ocelot.
Just cleaned it up, new seat and replaced the "flat-out" foam tires for a softer ride.

Just found this guy. A Meridia made 1986 Trek 850. its in great shape and just needed some tlc.

interesting enough is the color Yellow/Blue not in the catalog, not sure what happened there..

Suntour XC Sport Components with a Roller Cam rear Brake and the coveted Specialized Cranks.

I have it torn down to a frame and am cleaning up and reassemble

All the bits released of their 32 years of gunk

Nice! Looks like the same era as my Muddy Fox. Maybe the colors were offered in another country?
