That's awesome. My kitchen trash is full, maybe I should take a pic and see what I can get.

You could not get a dime for this pile of junk even in sub-Saharan Africa. I thought that was a nice 18 tooth fixed gear cog, until I zoomed in and saw, oh crap a coaster brake, Unbelievable!

"I never used it and don't know anything about it."

Fair enough, but you shouldn't need to ride it to know that electricity is not what this bike runs on...

Electric Bicycle - $250 (Peoria)

My tenant was not able to take this bike to his new place, so I am selling it. I never used it and don't know anything about it. I don't know if the info I was forced to choose is correct. He feels it's worth about $300.

It's a bike!

Considering the poor pictures and the paint, it's hard to tell, but I am getting a bit of a Bob Jackson-ish/Merlin-esque vibe here.
Could also be a number of other things as well (from the low countries as you suggested).

Ya Shur, you betcha
Apparently, that's a thing in Baltimore, too. Or to cover up it being stolen. Anyway, I bought I Rossin off CL that someone did gave a similar treatment to. Amazingly, whatever they used came off pretty easily, possibly due to the way the clear coat was applied when the bike was new. To make matters worse, they turned that beautiful Italian work of art into a fixie. In the end it was too small for me, but when I sold it I had returned it to a state of respect (even if I put Shimano 600/Ultegra on an Italian bike. But hey, they sold it with Sante back in the day).

Technically, it's not just bike parts, but an actual bike. (some assembly required).

Would be interesting if it turned out to be a raptor.

Looks a bit early for no eyelets.

Suspect they may have been removed when braze-ons added...

I love this 'description' of an 88 Schwinn Prelude. There's a whole world of curmudgeonly philosophy here.

This is a time capsule . This is the top notch bike of it's day. This bike was barely used and I purchased it from the origional owner recently to save it from the scrap yard! It has Rigilo rims with Maillard sealed hubs, the origional Schwinn Circuit 700x25 mm tires, Suntour Accushift index shifters, it's a 12 speed, Sakae Custom Road Champion bars and Sakae SX crank with MKS AR-2 pedals with Christophe toe holds, and dia comp brakes with Shimano SLR 105 brake levers. It's a Tenax Columbus frame . The seat tube measures just over 24" ( sorry if my terminology is a little off, I restore classic cars , not bicycles). The bike was always kept indoors and it was well maintained . The owner only rode it a few times and lost interest so he put it in the basement with other collectables until my buddy stumbled upon it and we purchased it. It will need a rear tube and the grip lacing is a little loose on the left side of the bars. Other than that and a good cleaning, the bike needs nothing but a rider. Asking $600. I will take serious offers u der $600 into consideration. Anyone that knows bikes will know this was one of the best of it's time and it has held it's value well . I did research the bike so even though I do not know bikes and the market off the top of my head, I can read at well above a high School level and I am a fairly intelligent person. So offering $100 bucks for the bike will have you transferred to the dial tone department or the text message trash bin on my phone . I just want someone who is going to appreciate the bike for what it is to purchase it and ride it like it was built to do or put it in a glass case and stare at it all day. That's up to the buyer , but at least it will not be in a scrap pile . There are alot of hobbies that have gone to the way side with the dawn of all the new technology in the world and in order to preserve the history of our hobbies, we need to preserve these relics and educate the future generations to come. In other words, put the phone down and learn something . Take a bike ride. Restore something to the best of your ability. Or drive that rusty old buick. Whatever the case may be , this is one that I saved and hopefully someone will appreciate that. Call me show contact info

It is indeed in good shape. The seller's commentary is appreciated, as there is good life advice, though you can certainly tell it's written by someone who's lived a few years. What is now $550 for a Prelude in that condition is still steep by...nearly 2x IMO. It is my size, but I'm not looking for one that far away!

That's a really interesting picture. Is it a bad photoshop job? Or did he somehow move his camera/phone during the exposure to cause that effect?

Looks more like a steel bike with a bad paint job and pretty optimistic about the tape condition.
Also thought the New York members would be intrigued by posters comments about New York.....

per ad:

I have a carbon fiber road bike. It's been painted over black from living in NYC where they steal anything. Newer handbar grip wrap. Shimano 600 components. Newer inner tubes and tires. Rides great. Small for me--should fit riders under 5' 7". Selling bc I need bike to pull baby trailer.

No phone calls please. Email and text only. Will provide more pics/details upon request.

I think he accidentally put the camera in "panorama" mode, which is supposed to stitch a bunch of pictures together to capture a scene too wide for one image. Honest mistake, but I don't understand why people don't just delete obvious mistake pictures before posting.

I'd hate to actually try and ride on those slippy bars.

Maybe he's not sure how to use the air pump?

Every bike was built with a purpose in mind, this one seems to be designed for taking nubile young women back to one's abode to impress her with your etchings. "Are You Looking For One of These?" YES!!!

Reliable rainproof fun bike - $390

If the ad is up It's still available:

Durable Dutch bike - Fun to ride

-3 gears in hub (no pesky delicate derailler)
-chain cover
-fenders and skirt for all weather riding
-low maintenance

This was built to live outdoors in Amsterdam (quite a rainy place)
Great condition! Its been stored indoors.

Authentic Dutch-made and imported.

You can go to my local thrift and buy an early 70's Schwinn Tandem bike for $300. Looks like it's based off of the Continental. Total junk. Not totally beat, but far from perfect, with mismatched seats. Personally I would have taken it the scrap heap.
I saw them put it out yesterday and today I was in there and two women had taken the bike over too have it priced and he put that asinine price on it.
It always amazes me when people want to take up for these places. And this manager has given me good prices on bikes before.

thrift stores are only good for high end stuff that most people haven’t heard of. Recognizable names will always be overpriced.

Never worked that way in my experience. It's random at best. High end, what? Trek. Maybe Cannondale. Nothing esoteric, or Italian. (I did get a Gitane Performance 5 years ago with campy stuff, with those ****ty french hubs, Helicomatic for $50 and it was a really nice bike, I probably should have kept it, but $$$ changed my mine)

The bike is a big piece of ****, and he had a sale. The overwhelming greed of these places never seems to amaze me. You can get amazing stuff out of them but you have to look so much it really never adds up. And I cycle to this place in 10 minutes. It's that close. Only reason I go to is it's close. I have pulled a few thousand dollars worth of stuff (Most of it non bike related) out of this one this year. Anyway.....(Summer is awful, virtually nothing for the whole season)
Still why be an ass about it. I told him he would never sell it for that price.

well, I found my latest bike for $20... a Columbus frame Miele with campy parts. I’ve made over 2k the past 2 months just from clothes from the thrift store over too... never seen any real high end bikes, no Cinelli or de Rosa, but I still look.

Mid range bikes I guess can be found too... I’ve bought a rockhopper with understay ubrake for $5. A 1974 Atala with campy for $10. A trek single track 930 for $15. Univega competizione (sp?) with superbe pro for $30... of course all thes are cheaper than they sell BSOs for.
