Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I built this up for the pops since I never ride this anymore... it should be a much better ride than his 50lb Walmart MTB. It's really, really ugly... but it's pretty fun to cruise around with. Still missing a front brake, but I got new bars, some stupid low gearing, and I finagled a set of fenders to fit. I should probably get more functional pedals as well.

Seen very few Moto Tracks around here at nowadays. Any reason? They're relatively inexpensive. I chose mine over a kilo or similar because it was more money to put into aftermarket.

The Motobecane Track is a good starter bike with pretty relaxed geometry. It's the same frame as the Fuji Track and the Windsor Hour. I like mine for riding around town, but I've since replaced my Track with a frame I enjoy riding a lot more. I'd rather see this frame being ridden than just sitting in the corner of my apartment.

I wasn't really thinking OMG, No Brake! I was thinking more along the lines of Tarck Shark at first. Hey, It's Mucky's baby Charlie concept!

Why would Schwinn give a steel bike with a threaded stem/etc. a sloping top tube?

Is that Mash a little big for it's rider? Looks like a 53.

It's a 50CM, smallest one they came in. And yeah, it's big. Rides fine though, I like it =].

And yeah, it's Lupin's Continuum. What was funnier was the instructor's reaction to Mucky's unicorn.

always prowling craigslist, found a few good deals:

cannibalized my LeMond to build this 14 lb conversion (love conversions). now i have to shop for parts to make my LeMond whole again.

headtube is huge, feels like I'm sitting upright compared to my other bikes. super stiff and super light. i'm thinking of switching to drops to get lower.

Doesn't even matter considering the pista concept is too awesome to be NJS.
