Explain yourself! What does your username/avatar mean?

Mine comes from the legendary "Big Al"(Al Stern), a long time biker and character from Chicago. Some 35 years ago we were riding together and he made a comment about only riding in "the Big Chainring". Just stuck with me and I often comment to others when I'm feeling boastful that I only ride in the big chainring.
And I dont have an avitar because I dont know how to post one.

Who is that guy?
Such diversity in depth of response! Okay, since you asked. My username tells you my name, Jim Muller, duh...
Started riding semi-seriously after finishing college because that's when I could afford a decent bike. Rode more through graduate school, stopped for many years, started again. Been a software engineer for (ahem) quite a while. My avatar is just a picture of taken by my wife on a snowshoe excursion this winter in New Hampshire. Just trying to stay young.

dashuaigeh just ended up being my default non-name based online ID. Literally translated from Chinese, it means "big handsome brother", and basically is what you'd call someone who's "hot stuff" or, in modern lingual terms, a "******". In defense of my immature name, I made it up in middle school and have stuck with it since only out of habit .

My user name started on forums devoted to boats, It's what I do to try to earn a living ("try" being the operative word!). The avatar is the cover of the debut album by my favorite progressive rock band, Gentle Giant.

This is fun. I like reading it.
I normally don't tell people why I call myself noglider. I make them guess. But here goes: it's just an anagram of my last name, Reingold. I was once on a job interview, and the interviewer said, "So, do you glide?"
I said, "No," and offered no further information.
[awkward pause]
She said, "Oh, right. No glider!"
Oy.
I've come to like using it as a username everywhere, because as far as I can tell, I'm the only person on the internet who calls himself noglider. It's nice to have a world-unique name. I think there are one or two other Tom Reingolds in the USA, but I'm the only one on the net. So all those thousands and thousands of embarrassing hits on my name are mine.
My avatar is a picture of my punim. Chicago Al will know what that is.

I'm a 30 year veteran Pastor named Bob living in New London, New Hampshire. I never cared for "Reverend" or "Minister."

Now that I've posted here I guess I'm obliged to explain my own. My username is my name, my avatar is from the Vegetarian Cycling and Athletic Club, one of the oldest cycling clubs in the world having celebrated its 122nd anniversary this year. I've only been a vegetarian for about a quarter of that time, though.

Death fork? Naaaah!!
'Top' shorthand for topkick, nickname for a company first Sgt.
'506' refers to the 506th Inf (ABN), formerly the 506th PIR, an outfit I've been associated with on and off for over 30-odd years.

I wish I could re-do my name. I had just bought a Kona Jake the Snake and it was the first new bike I'd purchased in about 15 years. I used its name, and my name (Aaron). Now that I no longer own the Kona, it's a fairly stupid name.
My avatar means nothing, it's just a photo I took of a co-worker's desk toy in my red swingline. I took photos of it in a paper shredder, a paper cutter, a stapler...etc...and left ransom notices.

"Rocco" is not my name. It's the name of my favorite pet, who sadly died last year. I have no idea why I tacked "bike" onto his name.
I used to have an avatar but BF kicked it off during one of their upgrades and I was unable to reload one. Finally, I gave up trying to load one.

I stole the name from Walfredo Reyes Jr. the drummer of El Rayo X and many other bands. His father like mine was a drummer too. Plus Phish sang a song about him entitled Walfredo where they all trade instruments and play it. I thought the name sounded cool and stole as my screen name. Fortunately for me the real Walfredo doesn't frequent golf or bicycling forums.
My avatar is the evil God boognish that formed Papa Gene and Dean Ween into my favorite band Ween. One of their live albums is called Paintin the Town Brown, which my first C&V bike a 83 Trek 620 is brown so it fits. You'll often find me paintin the town brown.

"Clubman" is the style of bike I first fell into with my 1st vintage bike puchase. The old CCM avatar is one reconstruct of the old frame decals. I have a dozen CCM's or so. They may change... both avatar and the bikes.
