A question about todays TDF
hi guys!
i was watching todays TDF, stage 2 today, and just wondering about what happened at the finish line. no body was sprinting today? and fabian was talking to a guy (someone from the official i think) in a car a few km before the finish, and he wasnt pleasant about something at the finish line? he was like shouting to someone whos from AG2R team at the finish line..
i also wonder about why some riders use a tape-like thing on the bridge of nose, for example, Jani from radio shack.

thanks guys!

Tons of companies make it but one of the more popular brands is called "breathe right" which is supposed to help for snoring / congestion. I'm sure there's ones marketed toward athletics as well but they all do the same thing. The athletic ones are probably just stronger adhesive to deal with sweat.

I read a lot of the reports and I read one which came from Chris Horner and he stated that a lot of the riders did not like the descent (where almost the whole peloton crashed) and I forget who said this, but one rider said "A dangerous descent like that one does not belong in the Tour de France"
I read most of the English reports from steephilltv

I think they didn't want points being given for the sprint because many of the riders let up so that the GC contenders could get back in the peloton. Apparently one of the motor bikes crashed and spilled oil down the road making it an ice rink. Sounds like most of the GC contenders went down.

Given that Cancellara sacrificed more than anyone else, this comment makes no sense. It wasn't a protest. The riders decided that because of the road conditions on the descent of the Stockeu, there was no way to have a fair finale and so neutralized the finish.

(Cancellara was a good boy. He sacrificed his temporary yellow jersey to try to keep Andy in the hunt. He succeeded. Mother Theresa, he's not.)

But if you've got a citation, I'm willing to be proven wrong.

Citation to where they got it?
These guys were falling over a distance of nearly 1k. Are they claiming that a single motorcycle equipped with huge engine guards, going down, splashes oil over a distance of 1k? Not very credible. I doubt the motorcycle lost any oil at all. (That's why they use adventure bikes, folks. They are pretty heavily armoured.)
More likely, since that stretch of road ran under the driplines of trees, you had some slippery sap or leaves on the road. (The road is wet, Lance. Time to be careful!)
There are a lot of riders saying NOT that there was oil on the road, but, "The TdF doesn't belong in the north countries." They don't like cobbles. They don't like wet road descents that run under the drip lines of trees.

Personally, I don't believe anyone fell. They were just tired and wanted a rest. The injuries are just made up so some can lie on the beach the next three weeks instead of working.

Read the actual interviews and press reports, genius.
But then, you can't let a good conspiracy theory get clobbered by reality.

I thought that Cancellara was pretty darn impressive. He Made it clear as to what was going to happen to the race directors and got everyone the same time and corralled in most of the riders to neutralize the race. Not many sports show the kind of ethics as cycling IMO.

You mean like these? (and that's just from VeloNews)
“There was something on the road,” Armstrong said. “We just couldn’t stay on our bikes…. It was more of a slide. I’ve got some good abrasions. It was so slippery that you just slid, so not much swelling. It was mostly abrasions.
“It was a straight road, downhill, with oil on it, and the whole peloton went down,” Evans said.
“It was ridiculously slippery,” said Team Sky manager Dave Brailsford.
Contador has suffered a blow and abrasions on the right hip, knee and elbow. “On this road it was impossible not to fall. I fell on a straight part at about 60kph and when I thought about what could have happened, I saw that at every turn there were people on the ground; it was impossible to go without falling.”
