2016 was my first full year cycling, was happy with dropping my weight down to 148lb from 165lb over 45xx mikes. Goal for 2017 is to climb more and to get stronger/faster on 30-65mile rides. My best for metric century was 18.x average, and I would like to get myself to stay in the 20+ average for 30+ miles.

I'm keeping my goals attainable for me. They will seem small compared to many here.
1. Ride the hell out of the indoor trainer this winter starting the season in much better shape than last year.
2. Drop 20 lbs to get to 165 (well maybe it's 25 after the last couple weeks)
3. 2000 miles with lots of climbing.
4. Ride around Canandaigua Lake and achieving that, shoot for riding around Seneca Lake, NY.

If I had any wish/goal is to map out some new routes to ride on. It gets a little boring doing the same ones. The challenge living here is the river and highway system funnels you to certain passages. Finding safe roads also a problem.

Century. was a goal last year but life/children conspired against me. I'm already on the trainer getting ready for weather to break. Need to get weight down HUGE this year, I'd imagine that training for the century will do that, but I've gotta get my eating/drinking in order, football season with my boys and the holidays were rough on me this year, I won't bother with the shear numbers I need to deal with, its pretty obscene, even for me.

I would like to return to group riding. I returned to cycling in July '15 after a 10 year hiatus and a lower leg amputation (after getting hit by a car). While it has taken a bit longer to get my fitness back that I had originally hope, I am just about ready to drop in on the pack riding I used to enjoy so much....

Got my new Look frame, a new groupo, new saddle, new Strava/Garmin integration.....new motivation.
That said I have a 15 year-old daughter and 10 other obsessions that keep me busy (and poor). So I'm setting my goal for 2017 as riding the equiv of riding from L.A. to N.Y. 2,700 - 2,800 miles. A lot of my riding here in So. CA is hilly so many of my miles are tough.
Looking forward to this year!

Ride from Asheville to Charlotte.
Do well in the Assault on Mt Mitchell... win a race or 2 otherwise
400 watts for 20 mins
Reached the goal in my signature (25 miles in an hour) last year - took over 300 watts for an hour, quite happy with that

OK, ala DXChulo, I'll do a Whitney ride:
15 laps on 887' climb over 2.5 miles.
Total 92 miles including the 17 & 2k to get there & back.
Will make it a group event- however many laps you want.

1.) Ride more. I let a lot of things get in the way of my health and fitness this year. I don't want another repeat of that in 2017.
1. a) Start commuting to work by bike, which was one of the things that got sidelined this past fall.

Genetics have failed me
In no particular order:
See one or more stages of the Giro.
Ride more.
Ride the Passo dello Stelvio.
Take a two/three day hike in the Alps.
See my son graduate from school

To make @RPK79 eat my gravel dust. Stretch goal is to drope him so hard that the dust settles before he can come through and eat it.

My goals:
Lose 10 lbs so I'm comfortably under 180 again
Ride more total miles, preferably over 6k
Do at least 1 century this year. I've still only done 1 since 2011.
Race more frequently to support my teammates, don't get dropped in said races
Stop and take pictures more often
Maybe get some new wheels?
That's about it.

Goals: Figure out a work/cycling balance, ride my first century, improve my fitness/speed so I can flip the stem back , take more vacations with a bike (get a folding/break-away bike or travel case?). Also get an easy to use camera for taking pictures on the bike.
Implementation: Start riding before I go to work instead of after I'm home. Use structured workouts instead of random intervals.
