Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pretty much. What made it worse was that, in times when defense was much more physical than today, he was a scrawny finesser that could kill you.

I *hated* Reggie as a player, but he's really grown on me since, so this is pretty cool.
Reggie's Arizona gloves are pretty rad!!!

Interestingly, I learned the transatlantic sailing record stood for 92 years. Then it got broken 4 times in six years.

That’s the monohull record, which is like a speed record on an upright, unfaired, bicycle. Banque Populaire, a trimaran did it about 50% faster, which is, in turn, about half the record speed for a wind-powered boat:

I think he’s hit 68 kts, but yeah. I don’t know why we believe Roald Amundsen, the Wright brothers and all those other guys who were too lazy to get video.

You've already set a sailing record? I had no idea you had a sailing background!

And already it is too late to begin a morning ride of any significant duration. Cooler weather coming next week though.

Pics or it didn't happen.

In this era of Photo-chop and elaborate trickery you can't be too careful.

One of the other threads has somewhat shifted to the topic of bargain hunting and, in doing a little research, I came across some NOS 1st Gen 11-speed hydro Di2 levers for ~$130 for the pair. If I understand correctly, they're compatible with all of the etube Di2 stuff. That would knock a huge chunk out of the upgrade cost, so it's kinda temping me...

There's a Tacx Flux Smart trainer at my REI Garage Sale for $270. The return tag says that an internal component "makes a noise." I have a feeling that the return excuse is BS. Tempting.

Correct. They're just a switch. I'm running 8000 series levers, newest battery, with 6770 gear changers. That's slightly more than what I paid for my levers, and I did jump all over it.
