Remember the good ol days when all we had to deal with were drunks and tweakers?
Kids these days.
Kids these days.

I meant that in jest in case it wasn't obvious.
A coulpe years ago I was the one that you smelled driving down the street. Now I make a point of not doing that in my car any more .

How does a clean rider take all the KOM's from a not clean rider? And in the Strava world - there are no rules, so nobody can be a cheater - or can they be?

A bit more clearly, please. What are you accusing Gaimon of?

Of talking too much about being clean. There are lots of other riders that don't talk so much. I have no reason to believe he is cleaner than any other rider.
Of discounting the value of racing by treating Strava KOMs as some kind of sanctioned, controlled event. Some of the KOMs he is after (Palomar) are not the fastest times.
Of being a self appointed enforcer of fairness where Strava has no rules (other than motors and virtual) which is why Levi's KOMs and all the others racing dopers are still up there.

Meh ... so he's after doper's KOMs (Thorin) and the KOMs of guys he doesn't like (Horner), but not after the KOMs of dopers that are his buddies (Tommy D) or dopers with whom he's got no issues (Levi)?
What a trooper, way to pick a battle. Almost as novel as him liking cookies.

Quoting him:
“I feel a little bit like someone’s big brother,” he says. “There’s this bully on the playground pushing people around, and I’m the one who can do something about it. I mean, I know a ton of guys who could take these KOMs clean — Mike Woods and Joe Dombrowski could take them with one leg. But unlike me, those guys have better things to do.”
I think the KOMs should be left to the amateurs. He is the playground bully. We know who the dopers are. Class riders / pros are not posting all their KOMs. Some kids even stopped on some routes cause it was thought of as kinda crass. Does he think some other clean - under 20 year old's could not take these?

Worrying about a retired pro taking others KOMs is kind of funny.
maybe Doge is mad because Gaimon took one of the LUX boys KOM's in the process

I have had about 10 notification on Facebook over this in the last couple hours from 4 friends. So it is a trending discussion point. I value definition. So I see a difference between a race, which is controlled and KOMs that are obtained by dopers, pros, ex-pros, group riders, or tailwinder.
So seeing an article about getting justice for KOMs somehow not righteously obtained, seemed silly to me, and of course, as he said, to him too.
Other than that I don't care.

Do you really need to turn every godfersaken thread into your pet peeve issue? I'm not sure what the end game is. We get your thinking. Some may agree, others don't, but repeatedly flogging your dead horse doesn't really add anything here.

Sort of. You layered that with a bunch of judgment of the guy's endeavor and a veiled accusation that he might be a doper because he speaks out so much about it.

Is Nick Sorenson Brandt (sp?) an amateur? He's a convicted doper and drug dealer. Gaimon is awesome. He's Robin ****ing Hood. I'd like to see him tale Danielson's but I think the issue is he can't. It would be awesome if someone took back Mount Washington. There's no rules to rock climbing either. But there's right and wrong. Ethical arguments ensue. Not many to fly fishing either. Catch the fish, release the fish. You can lie about catching it. But so what. You can lie about red pointing a route, but again who cares. The best athletic endeavors are between you and your body. The guys cheating or lying have screws loose. The world is full of loose screw people. It sucks, but so it goes. I can't wring my hands over whether Gaimon is really clean or not, or if what he is doing is less worthy because the rule book isn't well defined enough for you. I'm too busy chasing 1 watt gains in my secret basement training camp. The only thing that matters in that realm of my life is me, a power number, and my coach's pat on the back.

All I know is that when Gaimon retired this year he put together a local Fondo. My response was <shrug>. Another gnarly timed climbing event in the Santa Monica Mountains. Been there.
Next year? It's already on my calendar, provided there is an appropriate gap in the TT schedule. Hell yeah I'll come do your ride. Phil Gaimon's Malibu Gran Cookie Dough
The best part about Gaimon's game is that he admits it's petty and beneath him really. Yet he's gonna do it. I love that totally.

After several years a not-got-caught doping guy, GT winner gets his Palomar KOM flagged (in the last 5 days) and another not-got-caught-doping guy gets the Palomar KOM and beats my 15 year old's posted time by 2:14 sec.
This is getting serious. That Palomar Strava KOM got a lot easier. Maybe some kids will post their times.
I expect the GT winner may get his KOM back unless they find he was holding onto a car.
Accepted best time is Lemond - :49. Rumored times from Landis and Romenger around :45.
The recent not-got-caught-doping guy KOM winner should do the National Hill Climb up Pikes Peak in Aug and can get another KOM - maybe. Then everyone will be watching.

Tagging the only American not-got-caught-doping GT winner, who held the KOM (although likely not the fastest) a couple days before a not in top 1,000 World Tour not-got-caught-doping rider takes it by going slower. If he has data on Horner, provide it. Otherwise they are the same, except one did win UCI races better.
