Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So, sometimes you get what you pay for.
I go to a regular Optometrist and take Rx to Costco. Been doing that for years with no bad results. Not going to pay $500 when I can pay $140 and $100 for prescription sunglasses. It works for me and that's all that matters.

I've listened to a lot of FM, because the companies I worked for understood the importance of rock music in the lab, so part of outfitting a lab was buying the stereo.

In the 80s I listened to FM during the day but in the night I had to get my Larry King fix on AM. I'd also often check to see if conditions were right for me to get KGO in S.F. or KSL in Salt Lake.

I play mp3's from an external hard drive on windows media player. Just use the laptop speakers but it works. I'd like to blare tunes on a company provided system, that would be cool. Obviously chose a wrong career path.

You should be listening to classical music in the lab because it makes you smarter.

At one point, I was working on an assay that was terribly repetitious, but required me to be paying very close attention to what I was doing. I'd wait till everyone else was done in that lab, then go in and put on Red Hot Chili Peppers, really loud, because it blocked out everything else while not demanding my attention.

Clearly, you don't understand how lab work works.

Note:
Today's ride was motivated by not having done a ride in all of April. I didn't feel that good but better than the past Two days. I'm gonna be paying the price for a while unless the meds kick in and tamp down the pain. My fitness is really terrible. This year is going to be a bad one.

I tried the big chains. Meh. I prefer working with a local owner-operator type optician.

My estimated A.M. listening, ranked:

1) sports talk/play-by-play
2) other talk radio
3) news stations
4) religious
5) music

You should try tuning in Wheeling, WV some night, assuming they still have a 50,000 watt blowtorch there.

My AM radio listening was either to WHP in Harrisburg - every goddam morning, Dad listened to the Ron Drake morning show, loud enough for everyone in the pretty large house to hear. Drake played the same relatively small set of songs FOR YEARS - or to WSBA in York, which played Top 40 stuff.
