I searched for a house, in the perfect commuting distance, to buy after getting the job. I was thinking 10-15 miles was perfect and my distance is 12.5 miles.

Mine's 11 miles, but with some hills. I usually take 43 minutes, and that's with one major rd crossing that always has me waiting. But I've been loving it.... less stress, more predictable time, and if I go hard my workout is done for the day.

10 miles is perfect. I also have that, with MUP and bike lane and 1 annoying intersection! What I really like about my route is: uphill in the cool morning and downhill in the hot afternoon. Enjoy your commute!

Schwalbe Marathons with studs. I dislike the increased noise, but after a week or so, I get used to them. I have a bike with a belt drive, so this will be the first year I put them on and have to deal with the belt. Should be interesting and a fun learning experience. On the plus side, no more rusty chains after the winter!

I used to work in a bike shop for 7 years, and lived round the corner from it, so it upset me that riding to work was a bit of a waste of time, as it was literally 2 minutes, if that on bike. However, when the opportunity came up to go to a IT company 8 miles away, I literally only thought about the new cycle path that takes me to the front door of the place.
Love cycling to work, and I love work.
In that order

Like any new adventure, I'm finding myself quite tired after cycling the 10 miles over and over again. I need to ease into it. I'm also regretting my choice of a hybrid for this commute. My road bike is SO much more efficient, but lacks necessities like fenders and a rear rack (obviously). Makes me wish I had purchased a cyclocross instead.

My commute is a little less than 5 miles each way. I often wish it were a little longer, but the short distance does remove the time-related excuses not to bike-commute.
