Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I picked this masi up as a second bike. I gave it a better saddle (stock was a little too cushy). Then I did blow some money on it for different wheels (I'll use the stock ones for the trainer and less than perfect weather days).

those goofy pedals are 324's (clipless/platform), its a confidence thing for me so I'm sticking with them for now.

...Some really nice bikes here!!!

For my first post I'd like to show you my first road bike that I picked up a week ago after a series of disappointing mountain bikes (I just never got the point - probably because I never left the road... .

I belong on the road!

It's a Rigdeback Genesis Day 5 with an aluminium frame and carbon fibre front forks, handlebars and rims. It has Campagnolo brake levers/gear shifters, chainring, rear derailer, Shimano Ultegra cassette and front deraillier. Rolls San Marco saddle and Shimano wheels (rims + hubs).

It rocks my world, baby!

My best guess is that your cannondale is a 1989 or 1990 model. I purchased my first road bike in 1989. It was a Trek 1400...and it had that same component group. Looks like your bike was well cared for.

That is what the sticker says. That is a nice bike though, really nice. If the chain rings are in good shape, keep them; if not swap them out for a non-biopace black ring and you will have a great looking ride. I personally don't think biopace is all that bad.

I dig the silver saddle and bar tape. I used to have a Schwinn Paramount (back when Schwinn's were good) decked out the the same way. Looks cool! (Except I died the saddle, and it kept rubbing off on my wool cycling shorts )

I've got the same frame. Last year I sent Cannondale my serial # and pictures and they were able to send me detailed info on the frame. I recommend you do the same.

From the great Sheldon Brown:

"Cannondale Serial number code: first two digits are the size, next 6 are date of manufacture, remainder are unit number. For instance: SN#54021787121 indicates a 54 cm frame, built on February 17, 1987, #121."

Yes, I saw that but found that the SN on my frame didn't work with that scheme. That's why I sent Cannondale an email.

Just built this 06' TITUS Modena using 05' Motobecane Ultegra/DA/FSA parts and added CK Headset, Titec Ti Post. @16lbs @$2k complete.
Its just fast as lightning.....a climbers' bike and more thanks to the Ti post and 23C tires, not too bad on ruff roads. I think it just looks goooood!

The bike is too big if you need your seat post that low... or you have a really long torso and short legs. Then you'd be better off with a compact geometry frame. However, I do like that Festina colored Allez.

*edit: Oop, never mind, that's not a Festina colored Allez, but I do like the traditional geometry Allez.
