It seems like that would be a good base for building up a velomobile.

Correct, only two drum brakes (90 mm Sturmey Archer) in the front. That's perfectly good for riding a trike. A rear wheel brake is only good as a parking brake.

I bought the Rans V2 formula from a person down in Panama City for 1k. And its quite fun to ride. Going down hill at 35-37mph is sure is fun.
The man also sent a few jerseys, two handheld bike pumps with two tire levers , rear led red light, bike rope but without a lock, Cleats for shoes, and two other shirts. He also sent a new rans idler.
I think i got a good deal. for the money.

A functional 'bent and all that other stuff for a grand is a good deal. The front fairing alone would cost several hundred dollars. The rear seat bag would be another 65-75 bucks, if that's an Arkel. Have fun!

My steel V3 has morphed into a Ti V3 thanks to the new/old unused frame I picked up last week. Waiting for a rear brake - bike was being set up for 650c wheels - I'm using my existing 559 Velocity wheels. Front disc brake doing all the stopping for the time being. Instant 4 pound wt. loss is a good thing.

My Giro 26, bought in mid April this year. It's had a few upgrades since then.
The current non-stock items are:
- XT dual control shifters
- XT Rapid Rise short cage rear derailleur
-Oury Lockon grips
- Avid BB7 disc brakes
- Avid Rollamajig
- Velocity VXC disc rims laced to Hope XC hubs (my first wheel build)
- Serfas Barista 26x1.25 tyres
- Crank Brothers Candy SL pedals
- ADEM headrest
- modified Topeak Super Tourist DX disc rack- Bacchetta "Brain Box" seat bag.
- an extra light mounting section. I have since trimmed this a little and inserted a pair of bar plugs to make it look a little less ghetto The bottle cage on the front holds the battery for the lights.
Cheers,
Graeme

Lightfoot Ranger
Went to Illinois to my son's graduation and A Lightfoot Ranger followed me back to Texas. I have put some narrower tires on it and did a bit of tuning since taking these pictures. Finally got in a 10 mile ride yesterday when the rain cleared out. So far so good. I like the big wheel in front.

Disregard my previous post about the TerraTrike Rambler - I put it up for sale and bought a Catrike 5.5.9. What a difference - in ride, quality and speed. Should have done this in the first place. Think I'll name it 'Purple People Eater' (only us old folks will remember that song).

Update on my fleet.
My Actionbent with a Weehoo tag-along recumbent attached.
My latest commuter "bike". A Cab-bike velomobile. It's not fast but it is practical with loads of storage space inside.
Latest toy. An M5 Shockproof 406. The price was right and it came with the optional factory panniers. It should make a very nice tourer/day ride bike with a bit of tinkering.

Here is my Radius Hornet 2 converted to OSS with a pivot stem. It's a fun one being fully suspended. Gotta say it rides better with the OSS too. I'd consider this an ESWB. "extra short" wheelbase. This one took some practice. It was downright scary with the USS and how short the wheelbase is. Twitchy compared to my others and not very good sightline for traffic. But it is great on gravel roads and single track if you have good balance. Not a good one to start out on. I still get a bit nervous on it in high traffic situations so I try to avoid that as much as possible even if it means riding an extra 10 miles.

I picked this one up last week. It is a medium and fits me and the price was too good to pass on. It is NOS and was never ridden. The previous owner owned a bike shop that sold them and this was still on the floor when they closed their doors. The Bacchettas are very easy to ride. Only thing I don't like is the foot front wheel interference on tight turns. It's a well documented problem on the Giro 20. But I can live with it considering all the positives about this bike. The way it is pictured is the way the previous owner (5'8") had it set up. Notice the seat is almost all the way forward. I had to move it back and I'm somewhere in the middle of the range. I'd say the previous owner would've been better off on a small but I'm sure glad it was a medium. :^) I will say that this is a fantastic commuter. Almost as good as the Trek R200... which is the easiest to ride ever in my opinion. You can be very upright on this machine to have full visibility of traffic. I like that since a couple of my bents aren't that way. I'm currently building up a Giro 26 high racer. I may go 700c on it.

Ah heck, since I spoke of it, I might as well picture it. Here it is sitting in the previous owner's driveway. I need to take some pics out on it. My Trek R200. Dual 20 inch wheels. I love this bike..... it is so comfortable and stable. The Rans seat is awesome.
