1) My LBS didn't have a BBU.
2) The frame geometry on the Quick CX feels much more like a comfort bike, which is what I need for my stiff back!
3) I want to feel the propulsion, which I can, when the bike is light and the front fork is locked out.
4) I already have a flat black bike!

Here's my Cannondale Quick 6. Added on a pump, pedals, water bottles, lights, upgraded brake pads, upgraded rear cassette, crank, drop bar upgrade, saddle, seatpost, saddlebag, etc., etc., etc. Overall a really fun project so far!
I flipped the stem this morning and the handlebars look/feel MUCH better. I'll post an updated pic later

I remember when my 7.2 looked like that meanstreak, It is a great bike, I have hundreds of miles on mine & is has been flawless. I did have the flat peddles start to have some strange movements under my feet eventually. My 7.2 has evolved into something different these days. Good luck & enjoy your rides

Thanks,
I'm sure mine will evolve somewhat as time goes on. I'm not sure what you mean about the pedals... did they wear in funny?

Hi All, First time poster here. Here's my new ride. Trek Valencia, used mostly for commuting and (so far) 30-40 mile rides on the weekend. I especially like the discs, which are no luxury in Sunny England.
I added mudguards, a rear rack, and swapped the saddle and pedals to the ones from my old GT Avalanche. It just came back from the LBS where the stock 11-28 cassette was changed to 11-34 because I'm weak, and we plan on doing some multi-day touring, and I wanted lower gear option for the hills around here

I had recently swapped the 32c road slicks with some 43c cyclocross tires to make it more trail friendly since I picked up a new road bike.

Here's a photo of my "finished" "Frankenbrid", road/touring hybrid, I've been changing and adding items for a year now and it's finally done! Boy did this poor hardtail mtb, didn't know what happened to it, LOL!

You gonna eat that?
Where did you get that bike? Dick's Sporting Goods? The Nishiki name was retired about 10 years ago in the U.S., but I've heard about new Nishikis being sold at Dick's. Last I heard, the name was owned by Raleigh. I wonder if that's a rebranded Raleigh...
Or are you in Europe? Apparently another company owns the name in Northern Europe.

Trek was readily available and seemed better made than some of the cheaper bikes I saw.
I rode the 7000, 7100, and the 7200. I determined that for comfort I wanted the front shocks and since the 7100 shocks were not adjustable
I went for the 7200, which I liked the look of better anyway and the components seemed a bit better, and it was 2 lbs lighter.
The FX series looks a little cooler to me, but it looks like the seat position is not quite as upright. I have a bad back and am looking for comfort.
Maybe one day I will get something a little faster, but for now this thing is miles ahead of any bike I have ever enjoyed.
Does the FX have distinct advantages over the 7200?
In the end I quite like my Trek 7200 and it has gotten me into biking for the first time since I was a teenager.

I hear ya! I was "away" from biking for over a decade until I had some corrective surgery that allowed me to get on the bike... and re-discovered the benefits! Mine is an old, made in USA steel framed bike that really is pretty damn good despite things I hate like the twist shifters. The overall geometries of both series don't seem THAT different, but also somewhat subtle (to me... half a degree MAY very well translate to a big difference in ride).
From looking at both series, one thing I notice is very different gearing on the upper end of the fx series... as well as a kind of damper for the rear end. Of course, front shocks is also a big difference. The mnessage I see from Trek is one is an agressive bike for fitness, the other more comfortable for pleasure/group riding.

here is my new Katai, but 2009 model (better components than 2010). everything stock except the stem was flipped for no rise. 2 new tires are Schwalbe Marathon Cross 700cc x 38, a new seat and different pedals.
