Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The violation was the stop sign, not speeding.

The stop sign wasn't doing anything wrong.

Because of idiots who will not stop and look both ways, perhaps.

It could be on a school bus route.

It could be because it is close to a family center and kids will be walking, riding their bikes, and playing.

It could be because there are hearing and/or sight impaired people living close by.

It could be just for general principles.

Maybe you should find out. Or perhaps you did.

Incorrect.

If I had to come up with a reason, I'd say that it's because there's a bend in the road I was driving on. And if, unlike me, dangerous drivers are speeding through there. people turning from Landon Drive don't have a lot of time to see them.

I'm the most law-abiding citizen here. BUT, rules need to be scrutinized to ensure they make sense.

I never knew stuff could be so intermittent until I started doing diagnosis at a new car dealer.. Most of what turns on a check engine light is not repeatable. So you don't know why the code appears and if you do something to the car you don't know if it's fixed or if there was actually anything wrong in the first place. Then there are false codes, codes that appear on enough cars that the factory becomes aware of it and writes a program to address it.

I was involved in one such situation with a Volt. They used me to help determine it was a software issue. I drove 2 engineers around while they played on their computers and they had me fire the parts cannon at the car. They paid me for my time, which was nice.

Law enforcement should be directing its efforts against the real menaces to society.

You may remember the drama we went through with Mrs. GJ's Sienna (thank you for your skepticism regarding buying new catalytic converters, BTW!). What a nightmare! I'm still amazed that, when we finally decided to go and do the elaborate "reset" drive, it had magically fixed itself.

In my experience, having been pulled over a number of times, it always helps to tell the cop that you pay his salary and he should be directing his efforts to alleviate the real menaces to society instead of you.

I watched a video of a cop enduring a rant from a woman he stopped. She had a suspended license and insisted he go chase real criminals. She was so obnoxious I don't know how he kept his cool.

First time I've been pulled over. I didn't say much at all to him. Initially I had a hard time understanding what he was saying. He asked if I was coming home from work. I said I was coming home from band practice, and said where it was.

I said thank you when he told me he was giving me a warning. That's basically it.
