Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Suddenly the scene from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" with Arthur and the anarcho-syndicalist commune popped into my head - "King of the 'oo?"

I picked one up amazingly a couple days ago but it was a short dippity do thingie and I was on my dinky trike. I bet the local hotshots all went out yesterday and tried to beat it.

Non cycling tool question. We need a budget cordless drill/driver. I have a 15 year old Ryobi 9.6v unit that has a dead battery. Just a new battery will cost $40. A new 18v unit with battery will cost about $90.

Will a 2021 18v unit be that much better to get?

Oh, FFS!

I swear, my post on last night's ride on the Lotus was duplicated, so I THOUGHT I was deleting one of the two. Oops.

So yesterday I took Mrs. Peel out for a longer ride, this time with the 'new' wheels from Poland. The braking was a bit better, but still not actually good. I managed to get rid of the squeal from the rears by adding a little toe-in. I went ahead and ordered a set of Kool-stop pads and shoes. Authentic is nice, but if I can't stop when I want....

I did 25 miles, and got something like 4 PRs, so clearly this is not just a 'Cafe Run' bike. Now, where the hell do I put this thing?

Except treat yourself to a Makita or Milwaukee or something other than HD house brand.

I agree. Worth the money if you use them. I sense datlas is price sensitive on this.

If we agree, it's on the unique unpredictability and hazards Manhattan cyclists face (lane changes, parked obstacles, intersections).

Another drug success story.

yes. Or the newer 20 volt. Get two batteries. When you charge them, leave them in the charger after it tells you they're charged. They last a lot longer that way.
