Hmmm...seems to me this...
"but I'm reminded of this whenever I visit a shop and see logos plastered on everything. Upon seeing this, part of me thinks:
"Let me get this straight -- you want me to pay for your stuff and advertise your company?"
...means you are bothered by what other people are using/riding/wearing, because you are "reminded" of zealous logo use that's not to your liking, and... that you also feel people who ride/wear/use logo festooned products, are suckers/fools, unlike you, who will no be "used" by the manufacturers for free advertising because, oh, I don't know, you're too smart?

Man. Lots of insecurity in your "translation" of what he actually wrote.
OP never mentioned other riders and their choices. His irritation lies with the manufacturers. You imagined the rest of it.

Most people are snobs when it comes to their "preferences". No shortage of snobs in the wonderful world of cycling that's for sure, where the ability to purchase expensive gear is confused with ability and talent too many times.
I'm a snob too. Hate mountain bikes. Never bought one. Refuse. Too ugly.

So you run them until they disintegrate. No resale value whatsoever?
I hope you save them. Some buyers prefer them on the car. Especially if it was a hot mill and a classic car.

Sometimes I like a logo or a design. Back in the mid 1980s I bought my first brand new decent bicycle. It was a MIELE BETA. Later I bought the MIELE EQUIPE PRO with full Dura Ace groupset ( the first year it had the aero brake levers) and loved the bike. I also bought a pair of MIELE shorts and a MIELE jersey that I still have and wear once in a while. Thanks to another member on these forums I also now have a pair of MIELE logo shoes. ALl I need now are MIELE logo gloves and bicycling cap although i don't know if MIELE ever had those.
