UPS Tracking sez the Litespeed will be here next Tuesday. I'll have ground all my teeth down to nubs by then.

HA!
I saw an interesting thing on the tame foxes that Russian scientist made - he bred the least wary/most human-oriented ones for several generations. Turns out that a domesticated fox is not like a dog. Because foxes are more solitary animals than wolves, they don't bond to humans like the wolf-derived dog. They don't especially want to cuddle, for example.

The sound is blood curdling.

Anyone here climb the actual Alpe du Huez? People who have told me it's not that hard and there are harder climbs in Southern California.

Devil’s Kitchen in the Catskills is ridiculously difficult, like fall off the back of your bike steep.

7.6 miles of 8.5% average grade. ~3400 feet of climbing. So, like doing Kings Mountain, then doing Kings Mountain.

My wife and I went to the Catskills for our anniversary and stopped in Woodstock for lunch. We accidentally found our way driving up it to get to our hotel and I was amazed by the grade and the views.
Im going back to climb it next summer if I can.

Theres a few climbs on both sides of the Mohawk River that exceed 20% for spots. On the other side of the Hudson from me you start getting some really good climbs as well.

There are a couple switchbacks around here, where if you take the inside line you'll be doing 20%. They're also blind, so you con only go so far to the left without risking disaster.

Sure you could! It didn’t scare me that much back then, but I preferred road races and actually never rode a sanctioned crit, just club stuff. These days, I am very cautious and occasionally wonder wtf I’m doing riding in groups at all. It helps to know everyone.
