thanks very much for sharing your handsome Superior Rich
beautiful job you have done with it
wondering how you mounted the Maeda FD-1500 to the oversize seat tube of the Superior
there must have been some adaptation necessary
factory specification is for the Schwinn Approved GT275 front mech from Huret which came with a special size mounting clamp to accommodate the oversize seat tube
were you unhappy with the function of the Schwinn Approved front mech that caused you to change it?

thank you!
this model of Superbe front mech is termed the FD-1500

perhaps it was fitted by a previous owner
here is the factory specification for the Superior model of 1977 -

Changing out the 70's Schwinn Approved FD for the Suntour makes sense. I didn't really like the ones I've used. I've got a couple of Le Tours with replaced FD's.

Since there was a Superbe brand sticker on frame above cromoly decal, I assume it was dealer installed at some point. Bike was a rescue not a restoration so fd was fine with me.

That's likely Tange-sourced tubing for the later US-built fork. Earlier forks were built without Tange steerers that were otherwise identical to this one.
Of course, it's not out of the question that it might have been subcontracted out, but that means the exact same crown had to be sourced as well. Not impossible, just a bit unusual.

I believe this might be an early Tange stamp. Not 100% sure. I'm sure someone else can confirm.
