Isn't there a law, like the computer memory doubling very so many years that applies to cogs?

Just for fun, does anyone have the dates of the start of the next cog? I just make a graph of year-cog number from 1900 to present. When as the 1st 2-speed derailleur, 3-speed FW? Etc. I'll toss them in the graph and see if I can derive the law.
So, first try at The Cog Law: I am using the start of availability of that cog number, not invention year. (Like vertical dropouts in the mid '70s whereas I bet there was a 1920s or early vertically dropped bike.)

Dates used: 1869 - 1-speed, 1899 - 2, 1926 - 3, 1952 -4, 1958 - 5, 1972 - 6, 1979 - 7,
1991 - 8,1997 - 9, 2000, 10, 2018 - 12, 2021 - 13.

A simple square curve with decent approximation is - Number of Cogs = 1.0172 X (( Year - 1869 ) / 44.5) ^2 +1

Using this curve. I get June 2045 as the arrival of 17 cog cassettes. I"ll be 92. Need to keep my current bikes going.

9 or 10 for me. No fenders. Can only ride to the grocery in Dec and Jan, usually. Feb is also iffy. The rest of the year has plenty to offer.
