Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

When I started in '82, I wouldn't get home from rides till late afternoon on weekends. By Fall of'82, my wife said that's enough of this and made me buy her a decent bike and the rest was history. Couldn't get rid of her.

My work schedule has been messing me up lately. Did the red eye out of sacramento, landing at 6 am yesterday, then had to drive 5 hours to get the mini van back home. The drive was painful, and the rest of the day was a wash out.

This morning I still feel like absolute garbage.

Looks to be another hot and humid day. Time to get ready to ride and sweat. Definitely a two bottle day.

Phoenix might be the retirement spot for you, plenty of heat yet the COL is not as insane as Cali.

the amount of sweat my body can produce is disgusting.

After that ride I shouldn’t have anything less to sweat. Loading the car to go to the obx and I am drenched again.

25°/93% humidity.
THis is why I wait until late morning. Yes it's warmer but the humidity drops precipitously as the air warms up.

I feel ya. I sat out and enjoyed my backyard this morning while it was still shady and 70° with a heavenly breeze. Shot a bunch of hummingbird activity, results coming shortly.

Busy morning. Woke up to thunderstorms so it was a perfect morning for doing post-vacation chores. My wife had to do 5 loads of laundry after being gone 8 days, mostly riding clothes and I cleaned 8 days of grime off of the bikes after riding in the woods. Lots of seeds, berries, etc.

Happiness is two lubed, cleaned and polished machines.

Speaking of rice cookers. When Lisa Loeb said this made her life complete, I bought one of these for my wife about 23 or so years ago. Still works great:

Good ride, but by the end it was a hot and humid sweat-fest.

We are traveling to Philadelphia this afternoon to get Heidi’s BF who will be staying with us this week. It sounds like the plot for a bad Indie movie, but we hope this version has a good ending. We are making a food run to two of our favorite places for carry-out while we are there. One is middle eastern, the other is the best donuts place around.
