Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I never bag, the clippings help fortify the lawn. If they’re long or heavy I go over them once more.

Haven't bagged since about 1990.

Sandbagged a few times over those years though.

I bag a little bit when we get rain. It's just too much grass to leave on the lawn. I throw some clippings on the compost heap, and I'll throw some around the base of some of the trees also.

I did quite a few MUP miles today, and zero flybys.

Our landfill is touchy about vegetation and also paint. My garbage company told me that the end loaders/dozer operator on site watches for signs of both and records it if seen during tipping and fines the tipper.

Got back from visiting my siblings at The Ancestral Home last night. Everything was going like clockwork, right up till the incoming flight arrived and they announced they couldn't deplane because there were thunderstorms and the Ramp Crew weren't allowed out. Then they deplaned, and cleaned up the plane, and we boarded, maybe half an hour late. Then once we got on the plane, we sat for another maybe 45 minutes, because there were MORE thunderstorms and the Ramp Crew had been chased back indoors and couldn't finish loading our luggage. Then they finished loading the luggage and we wait another 45 minutes while everyone ahead of us who had also been delayed took off first.

I discovered that the Economy seats on the new 787 are reasonably comfortable, but not so much if you're stuck in them for 7 hours. At least the legroom was better than the LAST United flight I flew on, where the distance between the setbacks was exactly the length of my femurs.

Same. I do bag shrubbery clippings but I have a zillion acres of crop fields to spread those in.

One of my colleagues is an ID doctor and she told me the hospital is getting slammed with COVID19 patients. I asked for reassurance that the vast majority of these are unvaccinated and she was not able to say that.

We may be really ****ed. Sad.

Dougs like Dougs liking Alice's Restaurant references.

The "Alice's Restaurant Massacree" was played frequently on the college radio station at Allegheny. I used to be almost able to recite the damn thing.

Might depend where she is. If 90% of the population is vaccinated, it skews the numbers a lot.

If there's a long stretch of heat I'll leave the clippings. I considered a mulching kit but just haven't got around to it yet. With how rainy it has been I have a bunch of red thread fungus so need to bag and keep it from spreading.

If a hospital in a region with a 90% vaccination rate is getting slammed with COVID-19 patients, then we are ****ed, both well and truly!

I ordered new pedals from ProBikeKit the very same day the spindle broke on the Look A3.1's I was running on the Canyon, July 30. They are taking their own sweet time getting here! Everything else I've ordered from PBK arrives in a couple days. I guess this is what I get for just barely clearing the $100 hurdle for free shipping.

In other news, either my tinnitus has acquired a fun new sound, or the cicadas that were omnipresent in Pennsylvania followed me here. I'm guessing the former.

Climate change? Didn't you know the PNW heat dome was caused by intentional release of methane gas by our Russian friends from an oil pipeline? It's true, saw it on Facebook.
